It’s not the moving of a day off. It’s the continued charade using sports for something it isn’t.

Not bothering to read this thread after the first page, just posting to say Wolfbird is correct.
Athletes aren’t special and neither are college athletes. As the OP has alluded, if college athletics is about putting certain segments of society on a pedestal utilizing the soft bigotry of low expectations, then yes, perhaps college athletics is not for me.
There are multiple avenues one can take to be able to vote if you can’t make it to the polls on Election Day. Athletes would be much better served via a program teaching them how to utilize these options the rest of us plebs have to use, but evidently that’s too high of an expectation
You're missing out on some great stuff!

Right when we usually need it the most....well at least half us given the results. I am all for making it a national holiday, it gives people that work and pay taxes as much time to vote as those that dont. You should have to provide a W2 with picture ID to vote and or proof of millitary service.

Well that's not very democratic.

It’s the definition of democratic.

The definition of democratic is
Quote:a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
Restricting voting to only people with a W2 or military service is undemocratic.

Direct quote from your definition: “all the eligible members of a state.”
Thank you for proving me right.
The state can determine who is eligible.
Are we not a democracy because we don’t allow felons to vote? Are we not a democracy because kids under 18 can’t vote?
You can disagree with what he proposed, but you are just factually incorrect to say it’s “not democracy”, and your own definition shows that you’re wrong.

Preach. People that actually make the country run should determine how it is run. Mind blowing controversial stuff right there.
