No question, if this should come to pass, the MAC needs to follow the Big Ten's lead.

Are there any parents, players, donors, alumni, etc.. putting pressure on the MAC conference to play? I haven't heard anything. It's disappointing. IF they wait until Fall 2021 the league will have to rebuild. There will be coaching defections and transfers. No one will have confidence that the league won't fold up their tent again on the slightest bit of adversity.

I haven't heard anything. We were all told on top of COVID, it's a financial issue. That's why there seemingly hasn't been a ton of pressure on the MAC. (I don't completely buy it, but if you have to test multiple times a day for everyone, that'd add up quick)
I do think a spring season is possible. Many leagues have said that's their goal (some FCS conferences, DII, DIII, PAC, etc) . I just wouldn't bet on it.

The MAC won't be playing in 2020, regardless of what the B1G does or even if the virus suddenly drops out of sight. The financial fall-out from the lost non conference revenue sealed the deal.
Highly doubt anything happens in the Spring, either.
The B1G just looks silly right now with their full-on FOMO on display.

But not surprising.
I mean let's face it, "die hard MAC fans" aren't exactly a force to be reckoned with. I think this whole saga shines another light on how minimal the MAC's impact is in the sports landscape. Most of our own MAC alumni (especially in MI and OH) are decked out in their B1G fan gear begging that conference to play... not ours.

There are ways MAC can play with minimal funding. The pay day OOC games help cover the entire Athletic budget not football. I reckon we would still get espn money. Besides travel where are the major costs if we play a conference slate only?

testing.
But I don't really buy the financial argument either. The schools are pouring money into the program whether they play or don't play. They were just practicing July to mid-August! I'm not following it, but they might still be practicing for all I know
There's no reason they can't play a simple 5 game round-robin division schedule w/ a championship game at the end.

I hear you.. and if that's the case, I hope my school and the other MAC programs that have the reserves start looking at other options. To me it's not an option to just skip over everything these kids and coaches have worked for...and start again in fall 2021..(when we don't even know if the case numbers will be vastly different). Several other conferences are already playing or planning to. They are showing us the way. Keep the elderly and immunocompromised off the campus and playing fields. Otherwise I am firmly convinced the panic crowd is either brain washed or they are politicizing this.

If schools from SEC, Big 10, and ACC show that they can play a full season without a ton of stoppages or calling it a quits, then i can see the MAC trying to play 5-8 games in the Spring. Part of the reason I think MAC schools will want to play a Spring season is because MAC schools don't want the extra financial burden of having more than 85 scholarship players because an entire season was lost. None of the schools want to tell all the seniors sorry for the lost season but you need to move on because we already recruited a full 2021 freshman class and we can't afford 20 extra scholarships.

Agreed and do think the 85 limit stands so it maybe a painful decision for some of those recruits. The good thing is at least you have options and will most likely get some game experience instead of losing an entire year.
A thread of pain, for those, who want to realize how lucky you all are or kick a team while they are down.

In the bunker, NIU has an extra deep fortified bunker, leading the way.
