Thing is, the pressure on Warren will shrink to nothing or grow to even greater proportions depending on what happens over the next few weeks.
If the other three P5 end up canceling too, the pressure will dissipate entirely and Warren will be able to say "I Told Your So" or something similar.
But if the other P5 actually do start play in September, the fury of B1G fans at having to watch SEC and Big 12 teams playing real football games while their programs are in mothballs will be enflamed.
And that flame of anger will only grow as the season of play in those leagues progresses. It won't be a moment of anger when the ACC kicks off on September 12 or the SEC on September 26, it will burn as the three months of the season plays out and every week they have to see those leagues on TV, every day have to listen to the talking head commentary about the season, etc. It will be a festering wound constantly being poked at.
If I am any kind of higher-up B1G official or President of a B1G (or PAC) school I am praying that the covidoid media runs enough scary stories to force everyone to cancel.

No kidding Gamecock. This is gonna make the B1G look bad. Meanwhile, the SEC will be manning up. Sometimes we have to move on with life. Sitting in a dorm room or class is no safer.

I am curious to see what this does to TV contracts across all of the leagues. Every network is getting DESTROYED in 2020.

Same. I think it will ultimately just be chalked up as a wash for the networks since 2020 has been so ****** by an unprecedented pandemic. There is no planning for this kind of event on most modern business operations. Conferences that play will get paid, those that don’t won’t. Next year will just be a fresh start. People will still watch the B1G and that will remain a ratings draw. If there is value in short changing the Big 12 or another conference that played in 2020 when it is time to renegotiate, the networks won’t hesitate to do so.
