Who IS playing football
https://www.montanasports.com/college-sp...-this-fall

Much easier than who isn't.
"...The Frontier won't be alone on the gridiron, as only three NAIA conferences have so far announced plans to move football to the spring. And two of those are making only partial adjustments.

Only the Mid-States Football Association, which includes teams in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Missouri, has altogether postponed its 2020 football schedule. The Sooner Athletic Conference, based in Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, has announced it intends to split its conference schedule with teams playing three conference games in the fall and six in the spring. The Mid-South Conference is split into the Appalachian, Bluegrass and Sun divisions.

While the Appalachian and Bluegrass divisions have decided against playing this fall, the Sun Division, which features teams in Florida, is still a go.

The outlook isn't nearly as optimistic at the other levels, though. The National Junior College Athletic Association announced the postponement of its fall football season in July, and the NCAA left each division responsible for its own decisions. The entire NCAA Division III football season appears to be postponed with every conference canceling its fall schedule. The NCAA Division II still has four conferences aiming to play this fall, though their start dates have been delayed and more discussions and announcements are expected by the end of the week. As of Aug. 12, though, the Great American Conference, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Mountain East Conference and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference are all still on the fall 2020 schedule...."

You add in the FBS Indies outside of UConn & UMass. BYU & Liberty are both adamant about wating to play. Army & NMSU have hazier outlooks.

Army will still be in since their COC cup companions are still in. NMSU is gonna cancel.

The Southland Conference postponed fall sports league competition. They are exploring moving the games to Spring, 2021.

Link - Southland Conference announcement

The conference statement did leave the door open for limited fall competition.

At the FBS Level it's basically:

SEC
Big 12
ACC (Plus Notre Dame)
AAC
Sun Belt
CUSA (minus ODU)
BYU
Liberty
Army
Air Force?

By my count that is 77 teams. Am I missing anyone?

NDSU is asking around for up to 3 non-conference games, but no takers as of yet. I highly, highly doubt we will find even one game.

I would go with an * for Air Force rather than a ?
mwc cancellation recognized Air Force's specific mission and allowed for competition against Army West Point and Navy.

Division II is done: https://katv.com/sports/content/great-am...-january-1 Great American was last holdout.

So in the NCAA only the 6 FBS conferences and 3 indies are playing a full schedule. Air Force will apparently play a partial and a few FCS schools will play partial schedules.

UCA also has the FCS Kickoff against Austin-Peay and a home-and-home with Missouri St.

RE: Who IS playing football
Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Missouri State, Houston Baptist, Campbell and Duquesne seem to be the list of FCS still going.

Tennessee Tech, VMI, Samford, Jacksonville State and Chattanooga appear to cancelled or postponed everything.

I'm not 100% certain about North Alabama, Eastern Kentucky or Murray State. Each shows one FBS revenue game only. Youngstown State shows very early games with Eastern Kentucky and Duquesne, but these are not revenue games, so I think are off. Similar for North Alabama who show Western Illinois Jacksonville State and Chattanooga.

So FCS seems to be down to 6 (still going) to 10 (maybe) schools, but very few games. Most are very early schedule then nothing.

Hope HBU gets paid well enough for playing three FBS buy games. There won't be much in gate receipts, but they're stepping up in class for these games.

The cognitive dissonance between reading this thread and then switching back to the countless threads on the "upcoming" season is breathtaking.
