Ive been told that with the "social distancing " requirement for seating , our capacity will only be in the mid-upper 20K's this season at LF.

The conference is replacing that with another game against a conference member, likely a 2nd game against UTSA.

I consider the odds of playing the game worse for every week deeper into the season.
You might, but UAB has to approach scheduling as if it will happen if that presents the opponent they wish to play.

Sadly, that still seems a sufficient number for most everyone that would want to come.

Perhaps, but imagine how those folks at UA, AU, UGA, Tenn, etc, are going to feel when they will only be able to pack around 30-35K in their stadiums this fall under the same restricted seating arrangements.

If the season happens I think the only frustrating part about the socially distanced stadiums will be having to walk 15+ flights of stairs to the top of a largely empty stadium.

Not only that, they likely will have to pay for their season tickets even if they cant go to the games because they need to keep their seat priority

We have 4 home games right now. We have 6 road games (CUSA will take care of replacing our game at ODU...they have to for everyone). We need 2 home games. Our OOC is @Miami and @USA. I would bet Ingram and (especially) Clark, are not pleased with that.

Where have they official made an announcement on ODU's replacement? A bunch of "maybe's".

RE: 2020 Football Season - Reset
They have not, but according to anyone who has spoke about it they are most likely going to. The prevailing theory is if the eastern teams have to face a team twice then the two western teams that were to play ODU will also face each other twice. Of course this is Conference USA and scheduling decisions rarely makes sense.

+1 on blazerjay
But, in any case, we still only have 4 home games. We need 6 but definitely can't go under 5.

Wait...if we are actually interested in social distancing then we need to count from what we have with the tarps. Upper 20k's sounds right for a 75k seat stadium, but it's not going to actually allow social distancing as it would look just like our average crowd which is definitely not spread out 6' per person. We need to do 20-30% of capacity w/ tarps (which is ~50k?) which would put us at around, or just under, 20k.

RE: 2020 Football Season - Reset
In any case, I don't think anyone in college, NFL, or MLS is going to be judging a team's attendance this season (MLB has their cardboard cutouts so they're good).

It wont be 6 ft per person,, the distancing will be between groups,, Say I have 4 tickets,, all 4 of us will sit together,,, other groups (2somes, etc) will be spaced around us, safely. The tarps will come off.

True. I still don’t think there are going to be any complaints or ribbing about attendance this season...either by “official” parties or the public. You’ve got to assume that even if there was no cap there are a ton of people who would err on the side of caution and stay home. It was going to be a lean year as far as attendance figures anyway.
