Only the december games as of now which is 2 games. They give several options refund or leave money to seahawk club. You can opt out of season ticket and leave money to seahawk club and you would get flow sports and cutout at game like you see at other sports games.

Well hopefully, this will only affect those games. However, how many months ago now was it that we were told "two weeks to lower the curve"?

I have serious doubts this will only be limited to the 2 home games in December.

I guess my actual question is how long can UNCW sustain all current sports in this COVID scare climate? I have to imagine it's not long.

I'm all for a local TV station showing those games. I would even pay for that. But I will not pay for FloSports.

I hear you, I'd also pay for that. Let's help a local station that will support local businesses during the games.

I'm with CG, i can't imagine it's only December. Hell, the NCAA has already made the decision to move to one site for the entire tourney and that's in March.

CG brings up a good point. We don't have a TV deal sustaining us like the big conferences. Basketball is our revenue driver and if we cannot sell tickets or sponsorships for games our income is going to take a significant hit. I don't think there is an easy answer. Will the University takes on even more direct funding of the athletic department in addition to the student athletic fee?

As for TV, our radio partner owns an independent TV station that is in dire need of any form of original programming. We are already producing our own games, so all we need is an outlet to put them on

Seahawk Bonds. A lot of the bigger universities have already done this.

If there was one thing that came out the pandemic for the better I thought it would be the collapse of the Flosports exclusive deal. I don’t look forward to complaining about this the next 3-4 months. I don’t know the answer but flosports was way overpriced for what you got last year. Compared to espn+ it is complete trash considering it was over 100% more expensive.

100% more expensive with less content! I would think there would be some kind of out clause for extraordinary circumstances, of which I'd think the current situation would qualify.

I doubt it.

1. It's a deal for the entire conference.
2. I don't trust that the current conference leadership had the brains to make such a clause, considering they agreed to such a crap deal to begin with.

Almost every contract has some kind of out, maybe with penalty, but an out. I've been doing contracts for the better part of 13 years :)

But i certainly do agree with lack of confidence in the commish'es office for sure

The conference loves the deal.

The only way around FloSports is to put games on local TV. That's on UNCW for not getting that done

RE: COVID-19
Neither the Flo deal nor the current state of things with COVID (regardless of which side of opinion you fall on) are sustainable for UNCW athletics.

Either way... if things don't change, the projection for UNCW sports several years down the road is certainly going to suffer.
