And this may sound crazy, but being the only FBS league playing in the spring might be interesting. Will the country watch MAC and FCS football in the spring????

The big problem is that all of the bowl games are gone. That hurts big time!!!

Sadly, I can see the MAC cancelling 2020 FB and red-shirting all of the players for the 2020/2021 academic year. It will help graduation rates, though.

Steve, I love ya, but you gotta let it go. These are college kids, not pros, and it’s all about liability with these colleges. Football isn’t happening.

Time to focus on basketball and keep your fingers crossed.

I have come around with the idea of canceling CFB for fall 2020.

I now think if we have a vaccine by say Feb 1, 2021 that we can have a spring season.

Otherwise, I think there is a good chance 2020 CFB goes down the drain and we start anew in August 2021 with vaccinated student-athletes.

RE: MAC CANCELS FALL FOOTBALL
I'm sure most of you have seen the reports that the Big Ten and Pac 12 are going to cancel their seasons tomorrow. This is an interesting development per Bruce Feldman of The Athletic and FOX. I would also assume this means that those schools must have some knowledge that the Big 12 is not planning to cancel:

Michigan and Ohio State just voted against playing in the fall so I don't see this happening.

The Big 10 poached Nebraska from the Big 12 and the issue was purely monetary. The Big Ten and Southeastern conference print the majority of the money in the NCAA. No way they leave for one lost football season.

Let's face it, football in the south approaches religious importance and thus they are still holding on. Michigan, Ohio State and Iowa by contrast, love football but also are academically arrogant, no way they would associate themselves in the Covid 19 issue with the less than hallowed educational institutions in the SEC. The ACC may be holding on as well but I guarantee that they can kiss Notre Dame goodbye.

At the end of the day, I am 99.9% sure there will NO college football this year. The SEC, ACC and Big 12 are just delaying that reality in an effort to placate donors.

Not just yet Carl but it would not surprise me.

The Mid-American Conference winter sports of swimming & diving, gymnastics, indoor track & field, and men's and women's basketball are not impacted by this decision.

Stay safe and healthy.

RE: MAC CANCELS FALL FOOTBALL
When I think of the SEC I think CFB not academics.

I consider the Ivy, Pac-12, ACC, and B1G to be better academic conferences.

I just never have considered AL, LSU, Clemson (ACC), and even UNLV (MBB 25 - 30 years ago) to be great academic institutions.

Sports juggernauts; academics - nope.

LSU is known for FB and LindseyPelas. 02-13-banana

P.S. Vandy is an excellent university. Easily the best SEC school.

Spring football is a problem for NFL candidate players.

Can you imagine a college player playing 8, 10, or 12 college games and THEN have to play a brutal NFL schedule all in one calendar year.

Steve, spot once again, when the ACC cancels their fall season, we can put a period on the sentence of Trevor Lawrence's college career and much of the other NFL candidates at the Power 5 schools. "They be gone" and you cannot blame them.

There is, however, a lot of redshirt seniors and such at FBS schools who truly need to take the next step in their life and pursue a career outside of sports, giving them an extra year of eligibility is inconsequential. They have trained for at least the last years of their life to play this final season of football, thus I am hoping they get the chance to do so.

Vanderbilt is what Northwestern used to be in the Big Ten. Fabulous school, located in a vibrant city (NashVegas), and it lifts the conference reputation with regard to academics while finishing at the bottom of revenue sports. Please take no personal offense to my academic disparagement to the SEC, Vandy is indeed an outlier.

Wow. If I heard TV correctly, B12 WILL play Fall FB. So we have a P5 split decision, 3 - 2 in favor. So we will have FB from say Sept to June. USFL RIP. Welcome to spring college football.

My only problem is the one conference which SHOULD have canceled Fall FB, SEC, isn't. (I'm not worried about 1/2 of the ACC, but the other half??).

BTW, I wonder if B1G and Pac-12 will be able to have MORE fans in Spring, than they could in Fall?

BTW, in the mid-80s, Trump wanted spring pro football (he owed the N.J. Generals of the USFL). Now he has spring pro football again: SEC. 03-lmfao

USFL was a good league. It found it's niche in the spring so naturally Trump bankrupted it. It's what he does.
