This is not normally huge news, but because of last-minute schedule shakeups and the ambivalence of Louisiana Tech toward Louisiana-Monroe discussed elsewhere, it is news.

La Tech lost a previously scheduled game at Vanderbilt, and ULM lost a previously scheduled game at Arkansas, both on November 21. They have decided to play each other in Shreveport. It is La Tech's home game, and will be played under the C-USA TV contract.

This is nowhere in the same ballpark as the two schools sharing a conference, but they are working together to make some lemonade out of the lemons that this season has brought.

Did hell freeze over? The impossible has happened...then again it’s 2020 and nothing happening this year makes sense.

Can someone give me a rundown of the beef between the two? All I know is that they used to be conference rivals and had that whole Independence Bowl debacle happen with Tech, but I'm sure there's way more to it than that.

LA Tech spends more on athletics than ULM and fancies themselves better than their close neighbors.

A large number of Tech fans are pompous ******** (on the internet and in real life) that generally don't get along with any fanbase. They think they're better than ULM even though they're in a worse conference, and they've refused to play the Warhawks since 2000.

In addition to all that, being 30 miles away from another FBS school can generate some hate.

Academics. LaTech has an engineering school. Interviewed an alum from there at one time.

LTU has the smallest budget in CUSA, less than most SBC schools. ULM has the smallest budget in SBC, smaller than many FCS schools.

Larger is relatively speaking here.

Not to turn this into another C-USA/SBC reshuffle thread but it really makes sense for the 5 Texas schools, 3 LA schools, and Ark St to be in a conference together.

If you’re feeling adventurous add USM for a 10th and play divisional schedules.

Maybe after games like this one attitudes will start to change.
