Interesting. I think for the 2020 MAC football season- 10 MAC only or 9+1 or 10+1 schedules might be most attainable? I dont see any reason to play FCS games at MAC sites with minimal or no fans-further drain of tight budgets.

If the +1 scenario is based on finding +1 from P5/G5 maybe OK? is Army's dance card full for 2020?

RE: MAC football 2020
If football is played, I think Miami has a good chance at maintaining 3 of our 4 non league games. Miami at Pitt is listed as Pitt's one nonleague game, we also host UC and Army and if there is football those games likely get played, unless the MAC decides not to play nonleague, but why would we want to do that?

Quote:MACtion: Well, this morning Ralph Russo reported the MAC was planning to move forward with a season; however word this afternoon from Ross Dellenger is that they have delayed a decision until Saturday. Word had been circulating within the profession that NIU was strongly considering not playing this season regardless of the conference decision. Will update when more is clear.

RE: MAC football 2020
Do we know what the other G5 conferences are doing?

Since the lockdowns started I've been saying no season, but they've been practicing since early July & even schools that have suffered positive test outbreaks still seem intent on playing. So at this point, I'm optimistic at least one game this season is played. But P5 is intent, the smaller FCS leagues not so much, so will be interesting to see what the G5 (and MAC) decide

I don't have any inside information, but I wonder if UB is also holding things up. Illinois, Indiana and Ohio are on New York state's "hot zone" list. If a New York state resident travels to a hot zone state, they are supposed to self-quarantine for two weeks when they return home.

RE: MAC football 2020
The Illinois governor has been pretty strict. He already canceled fall high school sports, including HS football. NIU also moved the BYU game back to Huskie Stadium due to rules only allowing 20% capacity. The soccer stadium they were going to play BYU is actually smaller than Huskie Stadium. So doesn't make sense to pay and rent a venue that you aren't allowed to fill up to capacity.

What? This is stupid lol. There's a big lake in the way of UB. Many schools are a closer drive for UB than the Michigan's. No home and homes either. This isn't bball.

The divisions are as geographically responsible as they're gonna get.

Heh, I thought at least the "wink" would've indicated I was being tongue-in-cheek.

I was just playing off zibby's post about Buffalo avoiding IL-IN-OH schools.

Make it 3 divisions and you may have something.

No one is doing three divisions in football. Think McFly.

Pretty dicey situation in the MAC now with their presidents meeting tomorrow, per sources. Potential play is to punt on the fall season with NIU and a couple of other programs in a bad financial spot. The lack of guarantee $$ games makes paying for testing protocols difficult.

Source: A spring football season is absolutely being considered by the MAC, whose presidents will vote on the plan Saturday. Last FBS conference without a plan yet.
