According to JMUSports Matt Lewis is withdrawing from the NBA draft and returning to JMU for his senior season.

Good. Side note, he would look good at Wide Receiver. The fade route could be unstoppable.

It will be interesting to see how Matt plays under different coaching.
Hopefully it's a win-win-win for coach, player, and JMU.
I do think if the season is played there is a very good chance we can be a top 4, or better, team.
Coaching is a big deal, and that has been a huge weakness the last 4 years.
My gut is this is the best "coach" since Lefty, but not will commit to that until we see how the team performs on the court.

Things are definitely lining up for JMU MBB if the season is played. Like...everything...is lining up. Transfer waivers, players coming back, great coach (and staff), etc. Getting more and more excited for this season.

And, don't forget, a shiny new Bank to play in with brand new lighting that doesn't look like we are playing in a dungeon. Will we know what to do with ourselves with such shiny new things?

Except for this Covid thing.

I think how Matt impacts the team is going to be up to Matt. No question about his game but I believe he will need to buy into the roll the coaching staff assigns him, something that didn't appear to take place under Coach Rowe.

Bingo. I have great respect for Matt and fully expect he will be the receptive team leader HCMB desires him to be. Said it a couple of months ago and feel the same still that if Matt buys in, he can lead this team to places we only wished we would've been over the last 3 years (at minimum outside of the Keener-Rowe Invitational). If he doesn't buy in, then he will take away from the team and I prefer he just move on to pro ball in Europe, G-League, or something. Again though, I think Matt wants to taste success in a JMU uni and in the new Bank. Buy in and leadership along with winning will only enhance his chances at the next level.

I dunno - I don't see anyway more than 25% capacity to start the season. Basketball is much more doable than football.
Imagine figuring the 25% that could go the first night if that were the limit. I doubt with Covid - we have 25% season ticket base.

Were we drawing 1000 people last year at a game? Probably fair to assume we can double that for a new season in a new arena right? AKA at 8500 seats, JMU built a perfectly sized arena for the COVID era!

RE: Matt Lewis returns for senior season
As a senior, would be great to see coach challenge him to buy in, work hard like a walk-on freshman, and lead the team - agreed that winning in purple and leading that success (not necessarily scoring the most / game..) would be satisfying for him as a player, and make his odds at next level that much better
