RE: Big news for Coastal
So it says it's a planned gift in his will, and he's under 30.
Gonna be a while before that one comes in.
Unless there's some other way that works.

$95-million and he's under 30 years old??
That almost sounds unbelievable. But what do I know. That's a pretty humongous donation.

Be careful, the last time we got a major donation, it turned out the guy was using money that wasn't exactly his to begin with.
So did Gast.
Well....might have been his...but there was some dodgy actions going on.

The way they describe it, is he even an alum? It talks about his "visit" to the school.... Sounds weird, but if it works out that's a huge get for the University as a whole.

Between this donor and one day possibly Joe Moglia, Coastal is going to be swimming in dough.

I have lived in SC for roughly ten years now and its hard to find any state in which its residents give more than South Carolina. This donor is from Alabama but the money donated in SC year after year is staggering. It good to see such publicity for Coastal and it will be a transforming gift.

What about DJ? Does he donate? He's not as wealthy as Moglia right now, but if he doesn't screw up his marriage, he will be one day when his wife gets her inheritance.

He has made donations to our golf program in the past.

He seems to be like what Luke Byran is for Southern..... he loves him some USC. It's probably worst DJ actually competed for you guys. Byran just got lucky that country music is crap.

He has “dual allegiances” to say the least which is why I don’t really care about him one way or another.
Until he burns his **** gear and fully supports his alma mater, he’s not someone I’m going to tout as standard bearer for my university.

That’s hilarious that this site censors the name of that dreadful school’s mascot. I love it.
But yea, Dustin is a **** lover.

All I’m gonna say is none of y’all should worry about our new found wealth just yet. You could say it’s still to be found... Due a long time from now, if, things go well for the donor. Obviously, hoping it turns out for the donor, and us. Not holding my breath that long though.
As for DJ, yes he’s made small contributions. Wore a shirt of ours a time or two on “college day” on tour. But it’s no secret there’s not much of a relationship between him and the school. That’s not probably happening.

Exactly. When he dies in fifty something years, college football might not even still exist, much less college or even The United States of America.

Not just that, but dude has to actually make the money first. This smells like, in part, a way to generate “legitimacy” for the donor’s high brow hopes, as much as an act of kindness.

Poof... (not unexpected)
https://www.wmbfnews.com/2020/11/03/ccu-...ed-m-gift/
CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) – Administrators with Coastal Carolina University announced Tuesday the college has ended its relationship with an anonymous donor who pledged a $95 million planned gift to the school.
“The University/donor relationship surrounding such substantial amounts of money is complex and normally includes some baseline expectations of the University and the donor,” CCU said in a statement. “Unfortunately, the donor, who will continue to remain anonymous, has not fulfilled an early expectation of the arrangement causing the University to reevaluate and ultimately terminate the agreement.”
