Earl Boykins is now at Arkansas as player director and John Bowler Wisconsin Mil as an assistant.

I’d love it if Bowler makes his way back to Ypsilanti in the next five years...
Agree. Not sure what more he has to prove. Great EMU player, very good head coach at the junior college level, now D1 assistant. He obviously would have a deeper love and passion for his alma mater. Love and passion for the school your coaching? What a concept!
I'm on board with this too. If he's ready to be a D1 HC then keep him in mind when the job opens up.

'Nickle, you hit upon a key point... "when the job opens up."

Remember, it is a two-sided coin: John has to be looking for a job when EMU has a vacancy.

Now, we have/had a vacancy but John isn't available (he has a job, probably paying more than we pay).

EMU is typically slow in announcing hires so who knows what is happening.

I haven't read anything on Hoopdirt.

I'm talking about the HC job which will likely be open in March.

Yes I agree the head coaching position will be available next spring after a less than .500 conference finish.

We read you loud and clear Lucky. However I do expect improvement this season assuming it's played this winter.

We're done....

Our two big guys are one and done. We have a lot of holes to fill in the 20 21 class no matter who is coach.

Yep. Unfortunately, that’s what happens with a lame duck coach who is merely trying to survive.

Although, Murphy showed his prowess by bringing in Lowder. I have a feeling he’s going to be really good here.

This is not a bad recruiting class. It has height, experience, ball handling, defensive rim protecting, etc. And add Gibson's scoring it appears to have some of everything.

I'm now wondering if we could be a surprise team in a weak MAC??

Depends on how good everyone else transfers are what they lost and who is coming back. I like our chances if we can mesh Gibson and the newcomers. I agree with Sam that Lowder has the potential to be a program changer. Last year I thought we played good team basketball but had some fundamental weaknesses. My forecast if we play is partially sunny.

I agree Sam. Lowder made an impact at Holy Cross, that is not a JUCO or a D3 program. He will be very good here.

Well deserved. He’s someone that we can put in the game and be confident that he won’t look overwhelmed. He’s a good insurance policy in the middle of the zone too. Good for DJ.

Agreed. He’s going to play, too. More than most anticipate.

Yep. I think he has a decent chance of beating one of the new guys out for center minutes, at least early on. The zone is tough to pick up right away. It took Toure a whole year to really figure it out. Hopefully at least one of them is a quick learner.

Roster has been updated to reflect Gibson as redshirt junior and Pacheco as a redshirt freshman. As it stands now we will have 7 scholarship openings for 21-22.

Frank, I have been pulling for this for a while. Definitely well deserved. Thanks for sharing the news!

Cow/Sam, interesting you propose Ballard will still get some minutes next year given his competition are a couple of P5 seven footers. I am not as confident, but hope you are correct. The one thing I would add is that he has a reasonable 3-point shot, so a stretch 5 could be a unique challenge to opponents.
