Just got my annual preview in the mail. It may have been out of date as soon as it went to print, but here are his standings. Computer ranking for each team out of 130 in FBS is listed in parenthesis.

East:

West:
1. Toledo (64)
2. CMU (89)
3. WMU (102)
4. Ball (101)
5. EMU (118)
5. NIU (117)

I like Phil Steele and I trust his magazine the most, but I don't know what he sees in Toledo to have them so high. I also think Miami should be above Ohio.

I think my mag is coming in the mail today though, so I'll dive in later.

Phil does a superb job and I trust his more than any other publication out there.

Phil Steele is the most respectful college football preview service out there. Four MAC teams starting in/near the 60s is more realistic than any other prediction I've seen. Take CFN for example, total garbage.

I agree, Phil Steele does his homework and year-to-year provides the most accurate and in-depth preview of the MAC.

Well, if you would have dove into your mag and read what Steele has to say about Toledo, along with their computer ranking of the Rockets, then maybe there is a legitimate reason to believe that UT may be better...
Just to clarify - having your all MAC center(Bruce Harris) back from injury along with Rosi a 3rd team freshman all American guard and two other starters opening holes for around 2,000 yards of a 1-2 running back punch of (Koback and Seymour)...
Also a pretty decent 4 star LB from Notre Dame will step in when the overhaul of the D is implemented by a former defensive coordinator from (Alabama/Miami)... So I guess if we are fortunate enough to have a football season, we shall see what goes down in Waldo this fall... It will be a dogfight, like it always is with you guys...

I actually haven't received the magazine yet, it might come today. That's why I asked. Thanks for the info though! Should be a heck of a fight if the season goes ahead.

I don't see TOL winning the West if there is football.

I've been on vacation past couple weeks so haven't really been able to follow how things are going: is out-of-conference essentially cancelled? (Big 10 & ACC at least?)

The MAC is so hard to predict. With so many different teams winning the conference the last 10-15 years. Where did most predictions have CMU last season? I'd imagine 5th or 6th in the West.

At the end of the day, most don’t do their research because MAC football is not sought after
