(08-12-2020 05:26 PM)bullet Wrote:  Seems pretty certain all the NCAA fall championships will be cancelled. Question is whether they try to have them in the spring. Over half the conferences (17/32) have postponed or cancelled fall competition for all sports. Several addition ones seem likely in the coming days.

1. America East
2. Metro Atlantic
3. Atlantic 10
4. Ivy
5. Patriot
6. MEAC
7. SWAC
8. Big West
9. Colonial (left to the schools, but all have cancelled)
10. MAC
11. Northeast
12. MWC
13. Summit
14. Big 10
15. Pac 12
16. Big South
17. Big East
18. Southland-8/13
19. WAC-8/13
20. Big Sky-8/13
21. West Coast-8/13
22. Southern-8/13
23. Horizon-8/13
24. Atlantic Sun-8/14
25. Missouri Valley-8/14
26. Ohio Valley-8/14

So its now unanimous. All 13 FCS conferences and all 9 non-football conferences have postponed/cancelled fall sports along with 4 of the 10 FBS conferences.

Some of the FCS schools are still trying to play ooc football games, but other sports are moved to spring or cancelled.

I assume something similar was happening with potential FCS opponents. That leaves Missouri State as the only MVFC school with a game scheduled. The MSU AD just said on local sports radio that he hopes to have two more games scheduled within the next 48 hours. We'll see if that pans out.

They did, a home and home series with Central Arkansas

FBSchedules has other FCS games listed, including a season opener in Montgomery in just 9 days!

I don't trust many of those. Only confirmed shown. It is highly unlikely any games will happen before September, especially FCS home games. That one in particular is suspect as it's at a neutral site, which greatly complicates things. It's probably vestigial posting.

I will see the other conferences to not play either. A lot of outbreaks are happening on major campuses that will not be safe for players to be. A lot of the kids want to party instead staying safe.

This is a link I posted in another thread. Shows 16 schools trying with 14 having a total of 29 games, 19 vs. FBS, 5 vs. each other.

Well, Central Arkansas thinks it's still on:

Amazing .... I guess Alabama is putting caution to the wind in allowing spectators

With the NCAA championships gone, that makes some sense.

This is the latest version of the link I showed. http://www.fcs.football/cfb/story.asp?i=...m=&src=FCS

I haven't compared it to the above list in detail. It looks similar. I know it doesn't include the Duquesne at Coastal Carolina. Adding in Lamar dropping football and you have 13 (14 counting Duquesne) with 1 still looking for games.

This was an earlier version-bold is cancelled, italics is added:

Campbell: Georgia Southern (Sept. 12), Appalachian State (Sept. 26)

Gardner-Webb: at Western Carolina (Sept. 19) CANCELLED-G-W NOT PLAYING

North Alabama: at Chattanooga (Sept. 19)CANCELLED, at BYU (Nov. 21), Jacksonville State (likely in October)OCTOBER 17, Liberty October 3, USM November 7

OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE:

Austin Peay: Central Arkansas in Montgomery, Alabama (Aug. 29), at Cincinnati (Sept. 19)

I think that by the end of this week, every football-playing conference still planning on playing will scrap the other sports they had planned holding championships this fall.

I don't see why AAC or Sun Belt would continue.

If that happens, then you should be cancelling football as well. If you are treating football players any differently than other student athletes, then you are looking at football players as $$$ instead of as students.

Bingo! this is what is going on with the FCS schools playing revenue games and even up to the SEC playing for TV money.

No, you are only cancelling the other sports because the NCAA championships have been moved to Spring.
