RE: A thread to share positive news about Covid-19 Rx and vaccine developments
"As vaccines kick in, COVID-19 infections drop 90% in Tennessee nursing homes".

https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/he...823543002/

According to the article, the success is duplicated across the nation. The good news means fewer illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths overall because those in nursing homes have a disproportional impact on the numbers. Also, the declining rate indicates the overall efficacy of the vaccines because nursing home CV-19 figures are closely tracked compared to other groups (e.g., medical personnel) already receiving the shots.

Finally, President Biden promised all Americans will have the opportunity for the shot(s) by the end of May.

RE: A thread to share positive news about Covid-19 Rx and vaccine developments
I had my second Moderna shot on 02/26. No reaction at all after the first shot, but after the second, achy with a temperature of about 100° for the next 2 days and a sore throat for about 5 days. This seems to be the pattern for several people that I know, including ones who had the Pfizer vaccine. One person I know who already had COVID-19 and recovered had flu like symptoms after the first shot.

Overall all I'd say the side effects seem minor. My 87-year old dad had no side effects at all.

"Covid-19 Pill Shows Promise in Preliminary Testing
The antiviral reduced infectious virus in Covid-19 patients in a mid-stage study"

https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19-pi..._lead_pos3

The reported reduction was "significant" It is akin to Tamiflu. Fingers crossed....

My sister just had her 2nd Pfizer shot. First was arm soreness. Second gave her severe flu symptoms for 48 hours.

It is good they kept this go round to those over 65, I still have not been able to get one here in fla as they are still selling them out in 45 minutes. Hopefully the governor does not reduce age for another 2 or 3 weeks and I will be able to get in. The good thing is you are getting a huge bang for the buck by doing seniors first.

I've been giving 20-22 (depending on if we get the extra dose in each vial) shots a day and we're about to switch to 40 spots per day as the 2nd dose folks start coming up...we're drowning in work

it's wild in Pharmacy right now.

Have gotten both Pfizer shots. Minor arm soreness after the first shot, no symptoms after the second. Very similar results for my wife and son. Extended family in FL had minor symptoms (some soreness, one person had slight fever) after first Moderna shots. All in all no worries about either vaccine.

I just got my first shot today. Second shot April 7th. Pfizer.

A little drowsy this evening. Waiting for my arm to hurt tomorrow. lol

The shot itself was like nothing. I asked the nurse "Did you already do it?" She laughed. Anyway, I barely felt anything.

Got my first Moderna dose Tuesday. Second one scheduled April 13. Never felt the shot, minor arm soreness.

My sister had both Pfizer shots. Minor arm soreness for first one, plus some fatigue (she is petite size). Second shot knocked her down hard for 2 days. Fever, extreme fatigue. Moderate fatigue lasted a week.

Wife gets first Moderna dose tomorrow afternoon.

Household vaccinated with Pfizer vaccine. No affects with either shot for myself and my older son. Younger son had the chills after second shot. My sons and I were vaccinated early as EMS Responders. Wife had no affects after the first shot. Had second shot yesterday. Waiting to see if she has any side affects going forward. Daughter not vaccinated because she is pregnant and not old enough anyway. 07-coffee3

My father received both Pfizer shots and experienced mild arm soreness and no other symptoms distinguishable from those normal for an 86 year old man.
