I attended a similar school, and have known people that went to LC.

Their current D-III conference contains several similar institutions. But, they're primarily located in Texas. This move will allow LC to offer limited athletic scholarships with less administrative overhead while cutting down on travel for sports other than football.

I think Centenary should follow suit. You could start a true all Louisiana conference.

The only issue with this is LC is the only school with football but yes a Louisiana NAIA conference would be nice it would be

Xavier
Loyola
LSUA
LC
LSUS
Centenary

I’m not sure what the NAIA requirements are to form a conference though.

Needs to be be 6 to be eligible for post season automatic bids. But usually 6 isn't enough to make it practically worthwhile. Eight is a better number. There might be some near enough in East Texas or Alabama to make it work. But I suspect that Xavier is loyal to the Gulf Coast conference, being an HBCU in an HBCU conference.

State borders really don't mean very much in the NAIA. Even the "Golden State" Athletic Conference has 2 members in Arizona.
