MyBB 2020-2021 JMU Women's Hoops
Just noticed the roster has been updated... https://jmusports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster

Still missing photos of the newbies, which is understandable. But, looks like everybody is expected back and accounted for...well, as far as we know. I guess that is subject to change. Some bios have been updated. I find interest every now and then to see what our S-A's are majoring in.

Im excited to see this years team - they will have a much different look but returning Kiki, Rayne, Madi, and adding Tinsley are going to be a solid core with the incoming freshmen (which is Sean’s best recruiting class by far) and some of the role players returning like Jaylin. I’m curious when their OOC Schedule will be released, we know home vs. UVA is on it but haven’t heard the rest.

FWIW, here's the only WBB game I could find via google search this morning...

at Liberty, Nov. 19, Thursday... https://www.liberty.edu/flames/index.cfm...1&teamID=7

MBB and WBB are due to return to campus on July 20th per a recent report. Perhaps by then we'll have some more info on schedule(s).

Thanks, I've got to circle that one. I'll be in Lynchburg and not working that day.

During the virtual interview with Coach O a couple weeks back I think he said that both UVa and Villanova were on this years OOC schedule but he did not give any dates.

Thanks, Brian. I really wish we could add the Chokies (and Coach Brooks) to the schedule. Even if we have to go to their place this upcoming season. I am interested to see with financials being scaled back (potentially...likely?) some if not bigly whether we'll see more games against in-state opponents during the non-CAA portion of the schedule. i.e., even games where no overnight stay is feasible and a day trip can be facilitated. Not optimal of course, but tightening of the financial belt may be in order as we move forward. We'll have to wait and see.

The Convo was a near sellout, if not a sellout, when Kenny brought his team to H'burg for that WNIT game 2 seasons ago. Would love to see a nice gate for his team traveling into the shiny new arena. That additional revenue can help pay some bills, especially for the WBB Dukes.

Would also like to see the Dukes face off against VPISU. In my opinion I would think Coach O would be more than willing to schedule some games, not so sure if Coach B would be. Since both sides have to agree in order to schedule it may be a bit before we see such a series. Hope I am wrong but I think it will be a while.

Go Dukes!!

Agree. If one thing this crisis and the tightening of finances might bring though is for each school/program go up/down I-81 to play a game against a quality opponent that will help each school's SOS and RPI/NET ranking while bringing larger than normal paying patrons. Just makes too much sense. Hoping.

Bailey Williams, the player with no picture, is redshirting and completing classes from home. Lots of point guards on this years team will allow for a little more balance with next years incoming class.

I’m looking forward to seeing this team play, lots of new faces but lots of talent too. We have some impact freshmen ready to make some contributions and a tough test in game two vs Marquette.

Realizing this is an odd year with covid-19, but am I off reason in expecting a scholarship student/athlete to be present for practice, team functions, and games even if there will be no minutes? Is it possible there's an injury involved or could she be completely saving her four years of eligibility to be played within five and not actually be part of the team this season? With the NCAA rules for student/athletes this year in allowing an overlap and in essence reducing the opportunities, this could be a good move for her. This is simply me trying to educate myself not meant as anything more.

Bailey Williams "opted out" due to covid this season, which the NCAA is allowing in this one-off year. It is a bit different than a normal redshirt. She can come next year without losing any eligibility and retains her scholarship. However, I think it also means she is not a participant in team activities this season.

FWIW...UVA (and ACC) released the WBB conference schedule today. UVA also released their non-conference schedule. The Dec. 3 game against JMU in Charlottesville is set now for 7pm tip. Game at minimum will be streamed via ACC Network Extra with a chance of being on the ACC Network (TV channel), though I haven't looked through the MBB and WBB schedules to gauge that likelihood.

Season hasn’t started and already our game hosting Marquette is cancelled. Hopefully we can fill that space with a quality opponent.

I’m seeing everywhere we have 1 player with covid and 3 out bc of contact tracing and these four won’t be available for the first game. Anyone know who?

Coach also mentioned that Anne Diouf, who was projected to start, had rolled her ankle and was probably not going to be available. I think she is supposed to take over for Kayla this year until a newbie (Annalicia or Steph) is ready.
