I just thought I would sneak this in here so I didn't have to start a new thread.

Well done, Charlotte! Although I’m not surprised given your market strength. It’s something other schools don’t understand.

If y’all think OM not playing USM has anything to do with financials, you’re kidding yourselves. They have a tremendous amount to lose if they slipped against us in the eyes of recruits across the tri-state area. Those kids aren’t considering Charlotte, but might consider a much closer school in USM if they were to lose. They aren’t gonna do it.

Yeah I get it. The acc schools didn’t want to play us in b-ball back when we were good.

RE: Charlotte/Ole Miss Home & Home
Oxfart is a GHOST TOWN every time Ole Miss plays smaller OOC schools. These are the games where OM fans "take the week off". Go look at pictures of their games in recent years vs. SE Louisiana, New Mexico State, Southern Illinois, Kent State, UL Monroe, USA, UT Martin, ULL, Wofford, GA Southern, Fresno State, Presbyterian, SE Missouri State, Idaho, Troy...you can literally count the number of butts in the seats. Not to mention the hotels, bars, restaurants, CAMPUS, even the grove is almost empty during these weekends.

But as other USM posters have alluded to...this is all about Ole Miss trying to tap into new recruiting territory. They don't care about pleasing the great people of the State of Mississippi. I can't tell you how many Ole Miss and Southern Miss I'm friends with who HATE the fact that Ole Miss is playing these kinds of schools instead of Southern Miss. OM knows a H/H vs Charlotte is an easy win & a chance to branch their football brand to that part of the US. Also - Ole Miss needs to go bowling every year (for the amount of $ they would get being in an SEC-affiliated bowl game) and having Southern Miss on their schedule could be the difference between going 6-6 and bowling or 5-7 and staying home...not to mention losing any kind of recruiting battles/momentum with local prospects...so therefor the risk of doing a H/H w/ Charlotte (vs. Southern Miss) is worth it.

Mathematically curious about your premise--Charlotte is 2-2 all-time against Southern Miss, so why do you think you have a better chance of beating Ole Miss than we do?

If we could only sign a H & H with West Virginia to trigger the marshal fans too, that would be great be hilarious.

I don't think FAU has ever had a Mississippi kid on the roster.

No offense to Charlotte but our players would actually get up for the game.

Also - regardless of year, both teams are always filled with MS players who know, played with or against each other all throughout high school. Plus, you've got USM coaches with a chip on their shoulder (from the recruiting trail). And then there's always the fan excitement/build up that always trickles into the lockeroom.

True-----no reason Charlotte fans/players would get very excited for an SEC opponent. I mean, we'll probably be conference-mates at that point. 05-stirthepot
