the rest of the conference is just Florida.

How the heck are we the lone Alabama school but they keep au and ua together.

At least you're not Troy (or UTEP or UTSA in C-USA). I'd love an explanation on their "FBS Profile Rank" and how it has FCS North Dakota State at 68 and Buffalo at 76

If this was real, 11 teams makes more sense. 10 game round robin, 5 home and home. They'd likely drop the lowest in each conference which would cost several more C-USA programs FBS status. Also, I think UAB should be our cross conference match. I like UNT, but UAB makes more sense. Obviously, this would be a dream come true for Southern Miss (and most every other G5 team kept in FBS).

Troy would be willing to take your place, or they could take UAB's spot and UAB slides into the new Sunbelt.

With ULM relegated to where it belongs, this plan works for me.

I am in favor of any system that includes a promotion/relegation component. Conference membership should be a reward for performance and should not be grandfathered in.

If you reduce each conference by 1 team you have enough to add back one that got dropped and just have another conference (wouldn't be quite as rounded off that way).

I think his profile rank is an odd mixture of football rankings and that overall sports "cup" and US News academic rankings? Something like that?

I've been advocating for that deep south for a LONG time. I know it will never happen but it makes to much sense.

I hadn't thought of UAB being in it. I had always moved up an FCS in Florida in my vision. Not sure they would want that and not be against other Alabama programs.

It will never happen but it probably should.

I agree. 11 member conferences not only allow for equal home and away schedules, but it also allows each program to add an additional OOC game. I too like Southern Miss, but UAB makes more sense for your program. If we could swap (equal level), I'd prefer North Texas would have been paired with FAU. Those poor guys got paired with UMass.

Very Amusing. MT in a conference with Rocky Top, Vandy, the Memphis kittens, and Notorious Damn? And, Western in it with Louievilla and the Kattz, too? Ain't gonna ever happen but it would be fun.

No Memphis, so it's actually a possibility. They are the ugly step child.

This is a dream deal for all but 11 G5 schools, and immediately people here want to say what they would change about it. Me, I say let's put Pat Forde in charge of the NCAA and get this done.

This is the most sensible realignment scenario I've seen since this talk has started.
Good job Pat Forde!
