BYU's winning percentage as an independent is 59% and 64% when playing in a conference. Very similar. Schedules year in and out are probably tougher is an independent.

UConn in 20 years of FBS ball was mediocre aside from a short run in the Big East. Still appear to have done better than UMass comparing independent years.
