Totally agree! This song was meant to be a square dance song!

Surprised no one has suggested the champions of the west. Created so long ago that Michigan was actually considered a 'western' school & the BIG 10 itself was the Western Conference.

I announced local youth games for years in Illinois. I needed a fight song to play when our home team scored. I wanted a quick fight song that most people would not associate with Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Purdue, Northwestern, etc.. I picked Wake Forest's fight song. I really enjoy this song.

After a couple of years, I learned the local high school used a variation of the Illinois fight song, so I changed to Oskee-Wow-Wow!

Before he passed away, Northern Illinois University professor William E. Studwell wrote a couple of books on college fights songs. https://www.amazon.com/College-Fight-Son...608&sr=8-1

Studwell also wrote about Christmas songs and announced the Christmas song of the year each season.

Hydra's top 25 college football fight songs. Two teams from the AAC. Guess which teams the top AAC school beat out.

The University of Chicago has a fun fight song.

Tom Lehrer had some fun with fight songs and Harvard.

If you announce games, you may need a copy of the national anthem. You need it to be quick and straight forward. Here is the recording I used.
