Obscure, but not forgotten

USM's other spring sports hit high gear

Sabrina Norwood is glad the meets have started, but she's really looking forward to getting outdoors.

"It's one thing to practice every day, but once you know you have a meet at the end of that, it's wonderful," Norwood said.

So far this year the University of Southern Mississippi track team has only competed indoors, but a month from now outdoor meets will start.

"I love outdoor. The atmosphere, everything. The weather; I love it," Norwood said.

Track is just one Southern Miss spring sport whose season is underway.

At this time of year, most Southern Miss sports fans are concentrating on men's and women's basketball and preparing for the approach of baseball. But the first week of February marked the start of the season for several other sports at USM.
