The UAC concept can work:
I’m a believer in the UAC concept and it can still work provided the ASUN add at least a few more. Also the OVC needs to reconsider their stand on not adding D2 schools. The OVC needs to invite D2 Southern Indiana. Also I’m assuming the MEAC will fold.
The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association is consist of schools from the ASUN, Big South, SoCon, and MEAC.
Instead of using the ASUN since the SoCon is a member of the CCSA use them.
Using the same concept.
Seven of the SoCon schools could form the new conference.
Citadel
Furman
Mercer
Sanford
VMI
Wofford
North Carolina Greensboro
Left could be:
Western Carolina
East Tennessee State
UT-Chattanooga
Then Add additional schools
Kennesaw State
Jacksonville State
Eastern Kentucky
Howard
North Carolina Central
North Alabama
Also the name changes would revert just as was plan for the ASUN & UAC.
After the setup the SoCon private schools could be:
Citadel
Furman
Mercer
Sanford
VMI
Wofford
Howard
North Carolina Central
North Carolina Greensboro
(That’s 9 schools with 8 for football)
On the UAC side
Western Carolina
Eastern Tennessee State
UT-Chattanooga
Kennesaw State
Jacksonville State
Eastern Kentucky
North Alabama
Add either Lipscomb or Belmont)
(That’s 8 schools with 7 for football)
Possible another football school in the very near future.
Also in the future for other sports the UAC could add GSC members Alabama - Huntsville or Lee University who would
be in the foot print.Or maybe Lincoln Memorial.
