Recently I learned that mayo gives you a better, butterier crust on your bread than butter. I now use that on the outside of my grilled cheeses.

It’s went downhill IMO since they were bought out and became a chain. When it was just local to Charlotte it was pretty damn good.

I would give it a try on a tomato sandwich, but I see no reason to put sugar in mayonnaise.
