Exclamation Could Marshall @ ECU 2020 get a College Game Day nod?
https://247sports.com/college/east-carol...147773964/

I found a interesting article.... and I could see the possibilities open up based on what is asserted.

I doubt it would happen though just because of ECU's own trend in football the last 4 years but I digress.

I believe that plaque TH put up at the stadium is still there for the memorial of the game and the subsequent tragic flight that killed all those Marshall players (I don't walk around that side anymore due to the path I have to take to the games now).

College Gameday may choose to socially distance for optics this year.

Heh, but in all seriousness, they need sports programming so I doubt they drop College Game Day from their repertoire of shows to promote the P5 agenda.05-stirthepot Granted, the crowds that show up for the show itself against the set backdrop could work differently.

RE: Could Marshall @ ECU 2020 get a College Game Day nod?
Marshall is actually hosting a game on the literal day of the 50th anniversary, and I would rather use our cache to advocate for that day on Nov. 14.

In some ways, our game is going to have a very different story line. Marshall @ ECU 2020 is going to be the first college football game post-pandemic. We're basically opening up a new world, and in ways relevant to the modern world, the 50th anniversary of the plane crash is going to be pushed to the "B Plot" because of this.

They'd probably do Game Day from the studio while dispatching McAfee to do the slice-of-life stuff on-site. Even if they could build some distance, their presence alone would probably trigger the social-distancing-defying crowds we've come to expect. I mean, good luck getting these folks to put six feet of space between them:

Corso probably doesn't leave his home, and he may end up doing most if not everything pretape.

You all do realize it's still almost 2 months away. I remember the comments a month ago and look what has happened since the beginning of May. NC phase 2 is mid June I believe and phase 3 will probably be end of June or right after July 4th. Plenty of time to still pull this off.

Even so there's no chance of 100 percent capacity, no social distancing, no nothing as the protocol by the fall; organizations like universities are risk-adverse and they're not going to go for allowing 5,000 people crammed into the quad to watch Corso put on the other team's mascot head. The chances of fans at the games are better than they were last month, I'll grant you, but I doubt we're going to see back-to-normal conditions for a long while yet ... especially if a second peak happens in the fall.

There might not be 5000 in the quad, but there will be 5000 in the grid.
If the kids are going to be at school, you might as well throw your hands up if you are really wanted to quell this virus.
And this isn’t an ECU thing. Every college that opens is letting CoVID in.

Again another hypothetical big if. I’m referring to facts. That’s what scare mongers do. This could happen blah blah. If you look at what the fear mongers predicted and what has actually occurred there’s plenty of reasons to believe this could occur.

Risk-adverse organizations -- which colleges certainly are and I suspect ESPN is as well -- are going to take more precautions and be more careful as a whole than the circumstances might require. They deal with what-ifs so they don't get caught flat footed if one of them comes true. So even if the recovery is ahead of projections, they're not going to do anything that could come back to haunt them. Not when there's no cure or vaccine. I'm not saying anything is *definitely* going to happen, because yes, it's down the road a few months, but unless we're looking at zero new cases for two weeks, my reasonable presumption is that they'll retool GameDay to be a studio-heavy show with McAfee or someone else on site to get the slice-of-life stories and talk to fans and tailgaters (whatever tailgating is permitted, naturally).

Too much competition by that point in the season for gameday. Best to get it while we're the only show on. Maybe the following year it'll make a Facebook Story for some lucky contestant.

Agree, zero chance Marshall gets game day that point in the season. If there is a game day that week and it is live, there is no other game that makes sense. The only question is if there is going to be a traditional game day.
