... So then when you posted the 03-lmfao this yesterday ... I just had to scratch my head at what seemed extremely contradictory ...
Noting that on it's face, it actually isn't a contradiction ...

... if somebody thought it were true that the Big East would take Cinci in a second, then they wouldn't be wondering "I wonder if UC were to drop football or to go indy in football if the Big East would be interested?" ... they'd be, "man, the Big East would be all over UC if UC were to drop or go indie in football".

The answer is money ... if someone offered the Big East enough money to quell X's objection, they'd do it ... but that is entirely hypothetical, since that would be more money than UC would add to the Big East's media value.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point, but I simply see no reason to think in terms of hypotheticals related to the Big East and UC if there is going to be a level of contradiction, which I feel Quo deployed (perhaps, in fairness, unwittingly). If Quo can clarify and I'm wrong, I will gladly apologize.

If there is an "implosion of sorts" with the G5 — as a long-time Memphis and Cincy fan, I would be open to a "football-only group" with UC, UM and certain other programs (the "best" from AAC and MW) and a "basketball-only group" with UC, UM and certain other programs (likely the "best" from the AAC and the A10).

The Big East has a good thing going and does not need to add another large public university. UConn is the exception to the rule and the only one that makes sense. I would argue that if the BE wanted a second big public school, UMass might be best (even more so than VCU).

As a DePaul fan, I would want the Big East to add Dayton or Saint Louis to get to 12. Wildcard: Duquesne (though I know many bristle at that one).
