D1 HBCU Super Conference
HBCU Super Conference
Quote:On Feb. 25, I asked McWilliams what she thought about the four HBCU conferences — CIAA, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, the Southwestern Athletic Conference and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference becoming a Power Four. The MEAC and SWAC have already collaborated on their own HBCU Division I national championship football game called the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl.
“I think it’s a pretty cool concept to think about how four conferences can come together and collaborate without losing their identities,” McWilliams said. “I wouldn’t want the history of our conferences and institutions to be diluted. The question is how can we share in the wealth in some form or fashion.”
While the idea is compelling, the reality of such a super HBCU conference is complicated by distance and philosophy.
Regardless of distance or philosophy, HBCUs, for all of the challenges they face, represent a unique niche in the tapestry of intercollegiate athletics and higher education.
Something is cooking here. CIAA and SIAC going to D1 to form a Super HBCU conference. They can' stay at D1 because some sports do not count for stats and wins like basketball. MEAC south, SIAC and Lincoln MO. form a Super SWAC conference. Edward Waters and Allen to the SWAC as well. CIAA, Central State OH. and Kentucky State to the MEAC. UNC-Pembroke as a designated Native American University could join.

The article is from Two Thousand *** **** 17. A journalist threw out an idea, a conference commissioner politely pretended his idea wasn't stupidly unrealistic.
Nothing is cooking. All that happened is that four years ago, a journalist who doens't know his rear end from a root beer about college athletics divisions said something stupid, and you just found it on google today.
