RE: 4 ACC teams in Athlons 20 teams on the rise for 2020
For GT I'm hoping I see improvement in the play this year, but I'm not sure the win total will rise thanks to an increase in schedule difficulty.

Opening with Clemson and finishing at UGA is tough. Trading a home game with USF for a home game with UCF is a marked increase in difficulty. Trading a road game at Temple for a home/neutral site game with Notre Dame is an increase in difficulty. Everything else is much the same.

UVA will likely not be as good and that's in Atlanta this year. A road game at Syracuse isn't out of the question for a win (we've done well with the rotating Atlantic opponent somehow). We are in the ACC Coastal which is never predictable.

I wouldn't be terribly mad with another 3-9 year if:
1) We look better against the top schools on the schedule (Clemson, UGA, ND, VT). 40+ point losses hurt.
2) Recruiting is still strong throughout the year. So far so good, though I expect a big wave of decommittments across the country once the actual season starts.
3) We hang 70 on Gardner-Webb in week 2. If you really want to show me a place where improvement has occurred, do it on offense against an opponent who should be overmatched. I don't even want to think about if we lose that game and drop to 0-2 against the FCS under Collins.
4) Beat Miami again. They had no business losing that game to us last year with that talent disparity between the teams, but poor coaching doomed them and I loved it.

GT should feel free to beat UVa with my blessings - and the rest of Hokie Nation.
