I wonder why all the CUSA posters aren't banging down the door on the Sun Belt board to join the far superior power 6 sun belt?

You really think that's what's happening...

Bless your little heart

I have to agree with this.

Yep. That is the truth.

We do know that app, ecu and Charlotte have all discussed scheduling each other more often Ooc to save costs.

We know nothing about leadership discussing any sort of alignment

I’d be surprised if those three don’t have future series announced before fall.

In football we are pretty much lined up. Charlotte plays:

2024 - ECU
2025 - @ECU
2026 - @App
2027 - App
2028 - @App
2029 - App

We have an OOC opening for a home game in 2023, but I suspect we will pick up an FCS school for that. However, if APP wanted to come back to Charlotte that works for me and fits the home/away pattern. 2020-2022 are full.

2023 is the start of the Louisiana-UAB H/H series. I think UAB comes to CF IN 2025?

La Tech AD on realignment with SBC
We have ECU, Charlotte, UAB , UNC, Vandy, Memphis and Georgia Tech H&Hs coming up. Definitely a better scheduling strategy than our prior MAC and West Coast P5s visits.

Also, another article on the subject. While I don't think any merger or realignment is in the works it does seem like most are about scheduling regional games their fans actually care about.

inutech, I appreciate you picking up what I was laying down "there are lots of examples of ADs denying that they're leaving right up until they're gone".

I think realignment makes sense. I don't believe it will happen. Too many contracts and egos involved.

I agree with you. We should be open to the possibility that conversations are happening behind the scene but also open to the possibility that no conversations are happening, at all.

Schools talking to each other, one-on-one is expected, that is how games get signed. But those are not the same as realignment talks.

Yeah that makes sense. I think there are lots more of convos going on for scheduling than ever before and that’s a good thing for everyone. Any serious talk about realignment is prob very rare. At least up until now.

The Florida schools don't have much if any issues playing each other (I think FSU is the only school we have not played in football). FIU played UCF 6 times recently and have another 2 games upcoming. We just completed a H&H with city rivals University of Coral Gables and play them in all olympic sports most years, as does FAU. So I agree, more regional out of conference games would be great. Traveling to Statesboro (FAU) is definitely better that traveling to UMass (FIU). Also I like Savannah.

ECU has taken a very regional approach to future scheduling.

6 Game series with ODU
4 Game series with App St.
4 Game series with Marshall
2 Game series with Charlotte
2 Game series with Wake Forest
2 Game series with Georgia St.
Yearly regional FCS opponents

ECU only leaves the region 3 times through 2026
2022 @ BYU
2023 @ Michigan
2026 @ Boise St.
