BREAKING: CUSA announces bowl lineup for 2020-2025
"As part of the new bowl cycle, C-USA will annually send teams to the Bahamas Bowl against a Mid-American Conference opponent, and to the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, against a Sun Belt Conference school. The league has participated in all six Bahamas Bowls and has placed a team in the New Orleans Bowl 14 times in its first 18 years.

As previously announced, the league will continue its relationship with the Independence Bowl. C-USA is guaranteed to send a team to the Shreveport, Louisiana-based bowl in 2021 and 2025, while holding a secondary agreement with the bowl in the other years of the cycle.

C-USA will also continue its long-standing relationship with the Hawai’i Bowl. The league is set to participate in the Honolulu-based game in 2020, 2022 and 2024.

The conference’s remaining guaranteed selections in the cycle (either 4 or 5 per season) will include the LendingTree Bowl (Mobile, Alabama) and the following games which are owned and operated by ESPN Events:

1. Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl (Fort Worth, Texas)
2. TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl (Birmingham, Alabama)
3. Boca Raton Bowl (Boca Raton, Florida)
4. Camellia Bowl (Montgomery, Alabama)
5. Cure Bowl (Orlando, Florida)
6. Fenway Bowl (Boston, Massachusetts)
7. SERVPRO First Responder Bowl (Dallas, Texas)
8. Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl (Frisco, Texas)
9. Gasparilla Bowl (Tampa, Florida)
10. Myrtle Beach Bowl (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina)
11. New Mexico Bowl (Albuquerque, New Mexico)"

How so? Were guaranteed 2 games, so we are only guaranteed 2 more out of the rest of those bowls?

The 1st sentence in the article says the conference is guaranteed 7 bowls per year in this cycle.

It just means several of your bowl teams will be in the "ESPN bowl pool" and could end up in any of those bowls on the list. The idea behind it was that greater flexibility would allow better bowl matchups to be created.

I read this line, "The conference’s remaining guaranteed selections in the cycle (either 4 or 5 per season)". I see now that it means in addition to the 4 listed above (Bahamas, New Orleans, Hawai'i and Independence).

I'd love to have the Golden Eagles in the Bahamas Bowl, but I'd rather they were 11-1 (12-1 after winning Champ Game) and the two are probably mutually exclusive. Wife would be all in for that bowl trip :)

My wife and I went. Atlantis was awesome. We had a great time despite UAB getting hammered by Ohio.

The Bahamas Bowl is expensive and a scramble to go at that time of year but it is a fantastic experience if you can make it work.

These are the bowls that separate CUSA from the Sunbelt. The Sunbelt has no P5 tie-in bowl. ESPN will get to pick bowls for them. So much for them getting the best CUSA bowls. They’ll be stuck playing Miami (Ohio) while CUSA plays the real Miami.

Independence Bowl - Pac 12, Army
Armed Forces Bowl - Big 12, Service Academy
Fenway Bowl - ACC

Don't think for a minute that playing Miami in the Independence Bowl wasn't a big deal. UM sucked last year, but two days of ESPN talking about them getting shut out for the first time in 44 years was the highlight or my season.

At least two of those bowls (Bahamas Bowl and New Mexico Bowl) should either be shut down or donated to another conference. CUSA doesn't need 7 bowls; 5 will do nicely and we'd be over .500 in them every year.

Can't speak for y'all but I'm pleased with this group. Several more doable games for the eastern teams.

CUSA also has a tie in with the Lending Tree in Mobile. It was a Sunbelt vs MAC game, now it rotates the tie in with CUSA/MAC/Sunbelt.

https://www.al.com/sports/2020/05/sun-be...-2025.html

Better hope it moves to Hancock Whitney Stadium at South vs staying at Ladd.
I think the bowl would do well for travel for fans into Mobile.
