29,49 and 24 ain't exactly low volume scenic country roads either, just for the record.
clt doesn’t expect an eCu fan to know what an interstate is, but an urban street with light rail running in the median is a bit different, pal.
Never said those highways were interstates. Your statement said "Seems like it would be loud." 29, 49 and 24 generate more than enough noise to qualify as loud. I wouldn't expect you, as a uncc fan to acknowledge that fact, pal.

You comment surprised me, so I looked on the Google machine--40 miles from ECU to an interstate. How do they get those pigs to market?

Great idea!!

I read yesterday that North Texas has finished working with architects on the programing needs and basic design for the athletic center expansion. With the uncertainty created by the current pandemic, UNT has not announced a timetable for the completion of this project. But, the project is apparently still moving forward.

If we have the financial resources to do it, I say start moving dirt. Contractors have to be looking for work to keep their employees busy during this Covid-19 mess.

That's the great selling point. Right now, construction costs are favorable due to the pandemic, so UNT can build more for less. The basic designs are finished. So, I'm sure Wren is pitching it to our big money donors and showing them how much they would save by signing contracts now.
It is a similar situation to when North Texas built Apogee. The nation was in an economic downturn due to the housing bubble, so we got a $100,000,000+ stadium for $78,000,000.
We'll see how the athletic center expansion plays out.

It also helped that HKS Architects and Manhatten Construction Group, both among the very best with stadium creation, were able to design and build Apogee Stadium and the Dallas Cowboys stadium concurrently. The attention to detail was impeccable. Apogee would easily cost more than double if built in today's market.

I'm not sure of his logic, but Apogee was built a decade ago. So, with that in mind, inflation alone would drive up the cost of building the stadium today, though I doubt it would be as high as $200,000,000. But, even so, the current economic downturn would still save us construction costs. Just not as low as $78,000,000.

The architecture and construction contracts for Apogee Stadium were negotiated in 2008-2009 during the "Great Recession". Most large scale construction was at a standstill and North Texas was able to score outstanding value for their investment.
