But yea Prairie View's stadium is quite nice. Best FCS facility in the state, but A&M didn't buy it for them. They have raised and probably are still raising the money themselves.

If PV has a newly spruced up 15k stadium with hopes to expand to 30k, why aren't they in the discussion for our little WAC FBS experiment? Or are they and my head is just spinning with all the conspiracy theories floating around?

Because they still need to request and approve like 25mil for that because the TAMU system is paying for their upgrades

The eyes of at least half the state and most Texans. UCLA, A&M, UCLA and Pepperdine. Good for experience not so much the record.

First A&M, now UCLA, and Billy Clyde is talking about taking his young Tarleton team back to UK. Dude's got connections. Great exposure for Tarleton, and for the WAC.

What are some other games to watch?

Tarleton to play UCLA
https://twitter.com/JonRothstein/status/...5517469701

This is the kind of scheduling I hope to see fromt he rest of the WAC. Actually, Seattle, UVU and others have scheduled top P5's in the recent past. We just need to knock one off from time to time.

I respect your honesty. Scheduling the likes of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Northern New Mexico is not going to get us where we want to go as a conference. And I agree, it would really help if we could makes some noise, as a conference, by winning some of these games. But I know one thing for sure: you've gotta schedule it before you can win it. Maybe Tarleton will be the ones to lead the way on this for the WAC. Perhaps BCG is thinking in order to be the best, you have to play the best. Even if they get throttled, his young players will be better off for it when conference play rolls around. NMSU and their big ol' arena won't look so tough after facing A&M and UCLA on the road. Can't hurt for recruiting purposes, either. I like it.

With all due respects we have beat a P5 school every year the past 4 years. #6 ranked ACC Miami, Illinois on the road, Washington State twice of the PAC, Arizona State of the PAC on the road and Mississippi State of the SEC on the Road. All wins. Our losses were in the final possession vs. ranked USC and #2 Kansas on the road so NMSU and are big ol arena would be just fine and still very scary, especially for WAC teams. I'm confident we would throttle A&M and have a very good chance vs UCLA. Of course they will schedule Tarleton. They figure an easy win. NMSU trys to schedule upper echelon teams but they don't want to play us.

Jans did say he's having a hard time scheduling decent teams.

Reminds me of Illinois State a couple years ago when no one wanted to play them. A strong MVC team, they were over performing and the big boys steered clear.

It’s hard to blame P5 Conference schools for avoiding mid major trap games. If they win, people expected it and it’s not a big deal. If they lose, it hurts their ranking and tourney resumes. It’s basically a no win scenario.

Like I doubt we will ever see an ASU vs GCU Crosstown shootout.

We won't. Ever. ASU refuses to play against, or really even acknowledge GCU because of their for-profit status. Not too long ago GCU went from a broke 1,000 student private school to a 68,000 student cash cow, literally overnight. It rubs AZ public schools the wrong way.

Well son of a gun! RanchHand was right.
Man, Tarleton is stepping up BIG TIME for the WAC in non-conference play. Win or lose, great experience and exposure for Tarleton and the WAC.
Meanwhile, NMSU schedules Northern New Mexico College, New Mexico Highlands, Arkansas Pine Bluff, and.....

It strikes as
1. Set the idea that we will play anyone, anytime, anywhere

2. Get the brand out there to build name recognition and hopefully get invited to early season tourneys in 2021.

3. We can't go to the tourney so get games in marquee places so it creates buzz for the fans and recruits players during these lean years

A product of our own success. No team with name recognition wants to play NMSU in Las Cruces. And, NMSU has beaten Illinois in Chicago, Mississippi State in Jackson, MS, Miami (FL) in a Hawaiian Holiday tournament and gave Kansas a real scare in Kansas City over the last few years. It's becoming dangerous to play NMSU at a neutral site. Now, P5 schools only want play NMSU if they come to their arena or not play NMSU at all. So, quality opponents is becoming slim pickings for NMSU. And, Jans is not just going to play any P5 school without serious compensation or a return game in Las Cruces. So far, NMSU managed to get a neutral site game (in Las Vegas) with Santa Clara of the WCC.

Since the WAC reorganized into its current iteration, and NMSU started on its current run you can look over the years and see non-conference scheduling becoming more difficult for the Aggies to schedule. The AD and head coach do manage to get a decent schedule together. I would love to see a game or two in Georgia (I live there).
