Yeager is no Bobby Heenan.

I know we had our complaints about Yeager, but looking at where we are at now, I'm sure most of us would go back to him in a heartbeat

It would be no different. Especially for UNCW. He played favorites, and we were not one of his favorites. Like the year we had three teams qualify for post the season. We finished third. He promoted and got the fourth place team in. That's just one example.

Tommy wanted to promote the larger markets with all else equal but seemed happy to crown the Hawks each of those CAA titles for the NCAA tournaments. The 2 NIT bids were locks thank goodness. I do remember however feeling l that we were screwed one year though but our RPI wasn’t good enough regardless of head to head in conference.

I do like the Bobby “The Brain” Heenan reference. He frequently appeared on the infamous Brother Love show.

How much of that was potentially due to us having inept ADs?

Paul Miller and Peggy Bradley-Doppes were far from inept.

I was referencing the two after Peggy, but now I am seeing the fault in my own logic in terms of how the timeline doesn’t lineup with our championship years.

Since UNCW is so dependent on student fees, are we at a greater risk of problems? I'm assuming we will have students in the fall and thus will have our normal student fees. Since we arent dependent on any football revenue wont we better weather the storm compared to a JMU?

Football is heavily reliant on packed stadiums of 30k+ in addition to student fees. ECU is in a heap of trouble unless everyon comes back, they're allowed to pack their stadium, and sponsors can still afford to support them. They were already bleeding money. JMU is in the same boat.

I believe ECU's athletic department was having money problems before all of this. Also, the football games haven't been doing the numbers that they did when they were competitive. Just an awful place to see a game IMO.

So the non football schools like us and CoC that dont have sold out football stadiums planned in the budget should fair a little better.

Do a quick internet search and you will see a number of class action lawsuits being filed around the country for refunds of student fees to services - like athletic fees - that students do not have access to.

I would think as long as we have mens bball our athletic fee would be safe. Our athletic fee never included access to football tickets or anything like that

I wouldn’t get too excited just yet. If we’re not allowed to have normal seating in Trask we probably would be in a similar situation on a smaller scale.

How many more are they looking to cut?

EZU carries 20 varsity sports

East Carolina University intends to cut one or more of the 20 sports it offers in an attempt to correct a $10 million budget deficit, the interim chancellor and athletic director confirmed at a special board meeting Monday.

Don't be so sure. Keep in mind Drexel was one of the early ones to be listed in the lawsuit and we do not have football either. No school is safe at this point. I truly hope most of these get dismissed because if you are still getting an education (online versus in person), while it may not be the same experience right now, I do not feel like the students are out altogether especially since the states dictated what they could or could not do, so it was not on the schools making arbitrary decisions. With that said, student fees might have some merit when students dont have access to libraries, student rec centers etc. Hard to justify charging them those fees who stuff they cannot use.

That gets them down to the minimum number of programs for an FBS program: 16.
