Tongue in cheek title...but Louisiana MBB coach Bob Mariln is openly discussing proposals to forego travel to App and Coastal Carolina for the upcoming basketball season. This due to budget concerns arising from corona virus. "Billy Napier said he wouldn't be surprised if the Cajuns didn't travel to Appalachian State this fall".

Let's just say TWO BASKETBALL and ONE FOOTBALL game got cancelled...who would you like to see your school schedule instead?

Do the conference rules even allow you to say "we don't want to go play X because of costs"? I wouldn't mind skipping the Cajuns in football and having App and Troy at home while skipping Ark State to begin with.

It's not a question of schools refusing to play. The conference makes that decision. But with budget constraints and the risk of flying commercially, everything is on the table.

I do not see, however, football being affected. Everyone flies charter for football, which diminishes a lot of health risks.

Basketball conference scheduling is going to be dicey for the Texas and Carolina schools.

Everything is on the table at this point, I guess...pending conference approval.

Time for CUSA and SBC to switch out cross divisional games with each other.

App drops ULL, ULM, Ark St., Texas St., pick up ODU, UNCC, Marshall, MTSU.

ULL doesn’t want to play in conference App St, but is still going to play at NMSU??? Something smells like chicken poop to me....

Doubt we Travel to NMST if we don't travel to APP ... I think we really see a merger for this year only with regional teams from other conferences

The Louisiana schools had an especially hard time with the last economic downturn, not sure how much they recovered to be hit again. Could see a lot of changes with athletics at state schools in that state.

I was just about to say I've seen "ducking" too many times that my mind automatically replaces the d with an f and it led to a weird interpretation of the thread title.

I would love to see that for one year. Would be even more awesome if Alabama or Auburn would play us during this time.

Would make for an amazing schedule for a year if you played the 12 closest FBS teams to you.

Don't be surprised to see your non-conference schedule change to close bus trips that you might not have to spend the night for on Friday.

might finally make the state realize we don't need 10+ 4 year Univ in a state with 4 mill people

It would be nice for that to happen and for all state of Alabama FBS schools play eachother.

If this is the case, I’m going back to school some where else so I can cheer for another team. I will have lost all respect for our administration of it plays out like this. Also I was really looking forward to seeing the Mountain-Swap classic being played twice this year again.

No cancellations. Either we play full football schedule this Fall or cancel the season. Possibly move the start of it til Feb or just resume in Fall 2021

I’m am more vested in this season than any before. My school will be unwrapping a brand new stadium as well as I have a son that will be a freshman playing football at Birmingham Southern.

I’m ready to see some football!!! I don’t want any delays!!!
