Lots of pats on backs. Wouldn’t give a number on the tv deal, but said “Everybody knows what it is.” Talked about ESPN+ and Olympic sports scheduling. AAC stands for ‘Merica...upward mobility (Paraphrase). Mentioned an internal study using 34 different metrics, and the AAC was number one in every category in comparison to other G5’s...closer to P5 than G5. Gonna push hard for an auto bid in any expanded playoff. Said he’ll fight for the conference. Decent listen besides the fluff.

Wait. They are still using Bulls Peed Ahead?

No, but we are using Bull Speed Ahead. I understand nuance and spelling are difficult for ECU graduates.

With a new coaching staff and excellent recruiting, I expect USF to make some noise in the conference this year.

Do you seriously believe the pablum Danny White is feeding you? Just because he wants to move it to the spring because UCF stands to get destroyed financially doesn't mean it will happen.

He actually said "G4" once when talking about being ahead of them in all 34 metrics. Ha ha ha

Here's a lot of relevant topics from a wide-ranging interview with
@American_Conf
commissioner Mike Aresco.

We discussed return-to-play, potential liability if players get sick, and if fans can sit in the stands.

Not arguing that lawyers are swarming, just that the players, if signing releases, what are the reason for filing the cases. As far as the fans, go or don't go. Personal responsibility should be paramount in both cases.

Every player signs a waiver or they don't play.

Waivers/releases rarely, if ever get a case tossed. The best case scenario the defense can use it to argue the plaintiff was advised and aware of the risks and consented to go forward. Sometimes this is impactful on a jury, sometimes it is not.

Good stuff here!
Everyone should read the whole thing, but my top three:

"Now, our conference is healthy and we know we didn't feel that the last few months was the time to do the politicking that I usually do around the P6."

" I think you're going to see Olympic sports be handled differently. I think there's gonna be a lot more regional competition. I don't know that.
At this point, I don't know that you're going to see, you know, a major realignment of the big conferences, but you're gonna see some changes as result of this."

"(Regarding media deal and UConn departure) We have completed the process and we don't get into any massive changes. You know the fundamentals of our deal. I don’t want to get into the specific financials, but it was an amicable process with ESPN. It didn’t change the fundamentals of the deal at all, but you always make some accommodation if there’s a membership change. And in this particular case, {UConn} brought potentially more value in basketball, which as you know, these deals are primarily about football...But we resolved everything, and we’re fine. And we’re looking forward to starting the new deal this year,"

The one with a long history of predicting that the AAC would see a cut from the $2M per school per year from the 2013-19 deal?

Reading between the lines, it sounds to me like ESPN may have negotiated a slight reduction (perhaps the equivalent of a million or so per year) in their annual payments to the conference, above and beyond the amount that they would have paid to UConn.

In glossing over the details, Aresco seems to be sugar coating this, just a wee bit. Many of us had hoped that the amounts that the remaining AAC schools would be receiving would be unaffected.
