Is Tarleton going to get a new gym/renovate? Or they going to keep playing in that?

There is money and a plan already in place for a reno. They also have plans and money approved to add on to the football stadium. Not sure which will come first. Don't be surprised if you see NMSU and others playing Tarleton at Dickies arena in Fort Worth in the near term.

Dickies looks like a nice arena. If you guys played there, would the fans and students travel? (Not sure how far away it is from campus).

Yeah they'd flood the place. Fort Worth is Tarleton's second home, lots of alum and we have a campus there. About an hour drive, point to point.

I’m sure your attendance will go up from 1,155 just from the D1 move up and new coach. I wonder if your average fan has even heard of most schools in the WAC? I could see UTRGV as being one of the most attended games just from the Texas connection.

I doubt UTRGV will move the needle much for them. They're still 7.5 hours away, only 1 hour closer than NMSU. I know they didnt do much for us in SM.

Damn, I didn’t realize they were that far.

I could see using Dickies for a game against Big 12 or SEC teams, but not WAC games.
Why give up that home court advantage for the larger facilities unless you have to?

I was thinking invitational tournaments. Like the LSC football festival at Jerry World, rally the troops, get the d/fw alumni energized. But yes, definitely see us playing TCU, SMU, UNT, UTA there. TCU squeezed in a game there before covid hit.

1,155 seems low, but impossible to argue. Wisdom Gym can get quite lively, really depends on who's playing. The spectacle of someone other than a Reisman coaching Tarleton will in itself draw attention. And that its Billy Clyde, that will draw media from all over. Then factor in its now D1 basketball, guaranteed the fans will show up in force. Should be a packed house every time a WAC team visits, all 3,000 of them!

Hope I'm wrong but again, I think you need to temper your expectations. We were in the WAC when frankly, it had some bigger names and i dont remember really getting any huge crowds. I mean we also sucked but yea. The lack of familiarity with fans and locals hurt.

Edit: just looked back at the records from then and we probably averaged about 1500 that year.

3,000 ain't really that big of a crowd, it's just all Wisdom will hold at the moment. It was meant as a joke. But I definitely think there will be alot more fans than before....new division, new conference, new opponents, new players, new big-name coach...and new student athletic fee to help pay for it all. It will be fun to watch from afar.

Our best attendance that year was a little over 3000 against UTSA. Obviously because of the rivalry and proximity. Yall will see an increase it just wont be from the WAC, it will be from localish Texas D1s. UTA, UNT, SMU, ACU, heck maybe us and UTSA too. It will be interesting to see!
