THE MOUNTAINEERS MAKE 6X THE TV REVENUE IN THE BXII. IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO CONVINCE THEM.

I kind of like this idea. Give them a guaranteed match of their big 12 revenue for 3 years. Everyone else chips in to cover it. Announce the official bowl tie-in at the same time, and “anticipated Autonomous Status” for the next tv cycle. Big 12 will support the idea to cut loose the travel, too. SEC supports it since it spreads Px power thinner. ACC will support it so WV will maybe finally stop calling...

So the waiver is for 2020 and 2021 - correct?

Most of the P5 GOR's are up 2025 - right?

So if the AAC can't get legislation changed to keep the Championship Game for 11 teams without divisions or a true round robin schedule, why not file for another 2 year extension to get a pulse on potential realignment in 2025? Or just go to unbalanced divisions for 2 years after the waiver for the same reason? ...
Makes sense. You could apply for three years and say in the waiver application that you are doing due diligence on expansion candidates. Just be real diligent over the next two years while waiting to see if anything pops up.

Exactly, they have two years to figure it out. Nobody here is stupid; if they just file for another extension they are essentially trying to play division-less without calling it that. I highly doubt that flies.

The reason the AAC hasn't officially invited any of the fanboy faves–BYU, Boise, CSU, SDSU, Army, USAFA–is because they would be publicly rejected. There's no need to invite a for sure "yes" like Rice, UAB, or USM right now because they still have a couple years to see if they can bend the rules.

This situation will either result in the rule change we all want, or the AAC being forced into a 12th football playing member. Or perhaps they officially invite a fanboy fave, get denied, and are granted another extension. Is the egg on the face worth it?

No it’s not, especially since the AAC is a good distance ahead of the MWC. If one of the “fanboy faves” does join it will go down like it did when Pitt & Syracuse went to the ACC. Everything will already be agreed to, the invite and acceptance will just be a formality.

Clock's ticking. Should have been done already.

Yes, expansion fireworks are real cool especially when involves conferences we love/hate... That said, it wouldn't suprise me if the AAC has their future target pretty much already wrapped up... I just hope is a program who will carry their weight and help the AAC continue it's stunning success.

What's old is new again. Back in the ancient history of message boards, about 15 years ago, someone suggested that the Mountain West could convince Colorado to join them.
