Texas President to resign to take over at Emory University
University of Texas at Austin President Greg Fenves is expected to announce this week that he will leave the state’s flagship college for Emory University, according to one source with knowledge of the decision.
Fenves has been president of the university since 2015. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

That's definitely a step up in some respects. Interesting move...

Emory was going to seek an extremely PC president. I'd say they've found one.

Texas looking for a new President. Oklahoma still with a temporary one, this probably puts a total halt on any major realignment speculation on those two schools for the time being.

At both universities, the selections will be scrutinized, among multiple factors, on their views and experience with college athletics. Agree, no definitive decisions will be made on realignment moves until the non-temporary appointments are made. Even then, it could take a year or two to build the clout, connections, and support, to deliver a major realignment decision. In about three years more or less, it may be clear what directions Texas and Oklahoma may choose. They may not be the same.

Not nearly as much as it once did. Internal politics do not reside in the offices of those who are hired and fired at the discretion of others. And college presidents are no longer as entrenched as they once were. There's way too much politics for that.

Sure, but those are a dime a dozen in academia. What they were really looking for was a fundraising machine IMO.
