RE: Hoops transfers forecast
Maybe you can convince an incoming freshman to play post grad. One thing that worries me a little about the transfers- just some messaging from the Seton Hall transfer. He seems to be an alpha - I think the other guys are more complimentary winning type players. I guess this team could use an alpha but I like the fit of the other guys around what we have and would feel the same for Kier who at Mason and Georgia was a guy who stuffed the stat sheet. Could be reading into things wrong and by all accounts Molson is a team guy who will bring everything I just am a little skeptical that he looks to score more in transferring to JMU and with Morse Edwards Amadi etc not sure this team will need that as much as tough defense rebounding etc.

Justin Kier to announce tomorrow at 3pm

In recent days trying to read tea leaves in terms of social media posts by the team and players and this group for JMU feels locked in. Unless there is some loop hole or someone won’t be on scholarship if Kier joins it doesn’t look like anyone will go which leads me to believe that he will end up somewhere else.

If the mids become recruitment central for the bigs, we get better, yes?

If the good but non 4 and 5 star H.S. recruits have to go mid out of H.S., seems like JMU always will have fresh faces but on average, the players are better at basketball.

I really don't like the portal, and think it makes FCS even "less beneficial" to JMU.

Thankfully we are monitoring the situation! 02-13-banana

Picking between Penn State, OU, Arizona, Marquette & Utah. JMU was on his list of six, but he said no longer in the running

Makes sense. We didn't have a scholarship to offer him.

Makes no sense to me if true. So they don't want to schedule quality games that their fans like and help your RPI because MAYBE a one of these schools could possibly try to poach a good player at a later date? Also, these theoretical poaching major schools can only scout/steal your player if you play them in person? I guess these same schools can't afford a robust scouting department either....

RE: Hoops transfers forecast
I hope that this is the last year of the transfer craziness since there were guys that had an extra year of eligibility and no transfer penalty. Starting next year, I would expect we return to a more normal transfer season. I saw Geno's comments on the transfer portal and how he estimates 200 kids won't have a home next year; they put the name in the transfer and haven't gotten the calls they expected. The amount of bad information these kids are getting is ridiculous.
