Dayton (MBB) with currently a #1 seed was having a once in a lifetime magical year and a real shot at the NC. As much as I hate the tick fan base, they were likely in the NCAAT. After what the kids endured from their fans and supporters last season and turned it around this season. I truly feel for those kids.

Just like the virus unknowns, a lot of unknowns on the fate of the 2020 NCAAT. A coach was heard saying "May Madness"

I think they should play the NCAA tournament with no fans.

The kids are not at risk due to age. Give every team charter flights that are sterilized.

It will provide entertainment and a distraction for people to stay home and watch.

It won't happen, but I think it should.

I guess the issue is one player or coach will come down with it, which will start the cancellation dominoes to fall.

I hate that they are cancelling these tournaments.....but if they are gonna close colleges, go to online classes (which is a joke by the way)......the athletic events should be cancelled too. If you are not going to school you should not be traveling around playing games.

I wish they could still play for reasons like you say, but I don't think it's going to happen. Kids are not at risk of dying from this, but they are still at risk of getting the virus and spreading it to somebody who is at risk. I think that's the major issue here. They really want to contain the virus nationally so we don't get a repeat of China.

I plan to set up a March Madness tournament in my neighborhood. I will invite lots of 7 and 8 year olds. And, I'm not taking any Schlitz from them when they try to drive to the glass either. If they bring it in the paint, I'm going to block their shots right back down their throats and talk trash to them while I do it. They can take that weak ice crap somewhere else. I know some might think that is cruel, but I don't care. Sitting at home after a while makes me stir crazy. And, after a bunch of blocked shots it becomes quite a rush.

They can take their chances from the perimeter, though I intend on playing in their Spider Man underwear defense with lots of steals. (note, I was going to say "in their jock [strap] defense" but I doubt many 7 or 8 year olds are sporting jock straps these days)

I don't want to hear any crying either. If you think you can run with the big dogs (or slow out-of-shape 55 year old overweight has beens in this case), stay home with Momma. You 7 and 8 year olds in my "hood" have been warned. HARUMPH!

So if the tournament is cancelled and we were co-champions, who gets the auto-bid?

I guess Drexel does based on the tiebreaker. If they decide to come back and play May Madness for women's basketball, my assumption would be that Drexel gets the automatic bid and JMU would have strong consideration for an at-large bid.

I believe mud wrestling would be a fair way to resolve the issue

Plus the ratings would be higher than ever because people would be home to watch.

Still a little surprised that all sports are cancelling, but I guess it's travel and the non-game stuff that they're worried about more than the spreading it during the game itself. But once that first domino fell, everything else went suuuuper quickly.

Shane tweets a valid point that JMU's RPI is currently #28 and we would have a great at large chance haha.

I mean...the NCAA could at least release the names of who would be selected to the tournament so we could hang a banner in the new arena. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK NCAA?! 04-rock

Yup, and no upsets in the conference tourneys to take away potential at large bids

Well - if JMU is not having students on campus, would the women's team be able to stay on campus, and would they be provided food?

I dream both tournaments will happen, but there are so many obstacles all over the place to make it happen.

I put the odds on the men's tournament being played are about 5%-7%

The only reason I rate it that high is due to how much revenue they receive from the tournament. I heard today 80% of all the NCAA's revenues come from the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament. I'm sure most of that is TV revenues. Hard to believe football doesn't provide a bigger slice in revenue.

One player or coach (or extensive staff etc) will come down with it and sue the NCAA, arena, everyone in sight.

My guess is this is the lawyers call.
