WBB 2019-2020 season awards
I was about to post this and felt it deserves its own thread. Major props to the Women's Basketball program!

Kamiah Smalls named the 2019-20 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year.
Kayla Cooper-Williams named CAA Defensive Player of the Year
Kiki Jefferson name the CAA Rookie of the Year.

Senior Jackie Benitez and freshman Rayne Tucker earned all-conference honors as well as Benitez landed on the All-CAA Second Team and Tucker secured a spot on the CAA All-Rookie Team. JMU led the conference with five selections on the all-conference teams.

We just need coach O to be COTY and we'd have this thing pretty well cleaned up.

The absolute ONLY reason they picked Greenberg and Enabosi to the first team ahead of Kayla was offensive output. Neither one of them is anywhere near the player Kayla is. Enabosi might get close against lesser teams. Greenberg? Nah.

I expect Kamiah will get more than a few looks from the W on draft day or shortly thereafter, if they're smart. Kayla, maybe not, though it's possible. She's a bit willowy for the W. She'd do well overseas if she wants to continue, as would Lexie and Jackie.

Congrats to them all. Well deserved. Now, go win a conference title and relax this upcoming Monday evening at O'Neills while finding out where you are headed and who you will open with in the Big Dance.

W&M crowd will groan that Hodgson has some better numbers, but that ignores the per-minute stats. Smalls frequently sits during large chunks of the 4th quarter as we blow out conference opponents. When efficiency is considered with regard to stats, it’s a clear choice.

Guy on the Bill and Gary board melting down over Kimiah's choice as POY vs Hodgson.

Hodgson is NOT the player Kamiah is. She's good, but not all that. To me, the only one that came close was Kionna Jeter. I know Coach recruited her too....wouldn't that have been a kick having both of them?

So whine away, Bill & Gary dude....your girl is probably NOT getting any looks from the W, either.

That would be interesting if she was since she is only a sophomore. I already blew away HyperDuke’s argument about the minutes played/blowouts on the Tribe thread.

Likely won't as a senior either. Not their style.

BRian

I am glad Smalls won. But I like Hodgson, a lot. I was looking at Conference only stats for both players and was surprised that Hodgson had a higher turnover amount than Smalls. Hodgson shoots better, scores a bit more but Smalls blows her away in rebounding. So POY fits for Smalls. I actually felt she could have won it the last few years. Perhaps being a sophomore hurt Hodgson. It will be tough for that W&M crowd next year too when Jefferson wins it as a sophomore. 05-stirthepot

Hodgson is a good player. She just isn't a W type player, IMNSHO. Kamiah could be. Maybe, maybe not. I said I think she'll get some looks but that doesn't mean she'll get signed. I hope she does, but you never can tell who will develop further. Her style is pretty WNBA though. She can definitely play abroad if she wants to. I still think Jaz Gwathmey might get another shot at it and Olympic exposure could help her there. She was woefully misused by the Fever.

Well Jaz will get her chance this year. She was signed by the Connecticut Sun.
