Over/Under Dave Leitao Being Employed By DePaul For Another 5yrs?
DePaul's athletic department is absolute trash and I can defiantly see them rewarding this pitiful season with another 5 year contract.
Entire department should be fired after Wednesday.

There are rumors that JLP will be reassigned this Spring and that Leitao's extension was never actually signed/approved by the BOT (his original deal expires this Spring). Will definitely be interesting to follow that situation in coming weeks.

Here's the bad thing with DePaul. Don't they have a lot of guys coming in via transfer? Where if Leitao leaves, they probably leave as well?

That's the argument that some MU fans are making with Wojo (cause against making a change). For an administration (not fans) choosing whether or not to make a change, they cannot think in terms of one recruiting class; they need to think big picture and long-term.
The question is has Leitao shown enough to inspire belief that he is a long-term solution for DePaul? DePaul, today, is absolutely better than in Purnell's last year; however, DePaul remains a non-tournament team. In the last coaching cycle, DePaul interviewed Bobby Hurley and Bryce Drew (both inevitably were hired by other major programs), and instead chose to hire Leitao.
Personally, if an AD change is on the horizon, it makes sense to keep Leitao one more year (not just to see what he can do with incoming recruits), but also to give whomever the new AD is (in theory) to accurately and efficiently review the program for next year. You don't want an AD to come in near the end of the school year, only to then decide to enter the coaching cycle (when nearly all of the hires have already been made), especially since June is such an important recruiting period.

As a DePaul fan who quietly also roots for Georgetown, I would politely ask that you not use "absolute trash" to paint the entire athletics department. It seems malicious. Of note, the women's program typically does well most years and is ranked No. 15 now.
Now, feel free to use "utter embarrassment" for the men's hoops program.

Remarkable. Absolutely remarkable.
IF she is on the way out, why would she be allowed to grant extensions to any employee? This reeks of Chicago politics big time. Rough.

The Twitter responses from DePaul fans to Goodman's tweet ... downright brutal. They are fed up with DL and JLP. I'm not as hard-core about it but, admittedly, 1. I obviously no longer live in Chicago and 2. nowadays, I'm more so a fan of the university and its impact on the city and on the Catholic culture in a broad sense as a I'm a fan of DU men's hoops specifically.
Still, I fondly recall the days I watched lots of DePaul basketball in Chicago bars and cheered on whilst quaffing lots of Old Style beer what where some solid Blue Demon teams in the late 1980s and early 1990s. DePaul basketball, the Lincoln Park Zoo, boozing in Irish pubs and juggling on the Oak Street Beach, collectively, helped define my time in Chicago.
I hate to see the Blue Demons continuing to flounder.

Dave Leitao just finished fifth season in Chicago. DePaul has gone 64-98 during what has been Leitao’s second stint as Blue Demon head coach.
Seems all of us on this board thought he would be retained. I have very mixed emotions about it. DU had seemed to be trending in a positive direction the first half of the this past season and DL does offer some very solid coaching/people skills. He's got four more seasons to get it done ... but will he? I hope so.

it'll be interesting to see what the buy out situation is with it- he has 1 year in 2020-21 and then he could easily be over.

First step to him being gone is the AD retiring this summer.
Huge win for all DePaul fans!

As a long-time DePaul fan, I actually think DL has done a better job than many give him credit. But ...
New blood could be very helpful.

If DePaul makes a move after next season, they need to give Kevin Ollie a look. He needs to attend a media day where a microphone isn't taped to the side of his head.

Would be hilarious to see him roaming the opposing sideline at Gampel. Wonder if Ray Allen would show up in UConn and DePaul gear

Wow. DePaul hired an experienced non-affiliated athletic administrator that has men's basketball credentials and associated success.
2020 is truly the year of the unexpected. Wonderful hire. Congrats to DePaul.

Peevy seems like a very solid hire overall. Reading some reports from Chicago media, it seems the main concern is that he does not have a background with the city. Fair point. But he is an appropriate age (46, so "not too old" and "not too young"), will be "basketball centric" and has experience with a P5 school (UK).
If anything, he'll be better than Ponsetto.
I am cautiously hopeful.
