Based on the last couple games after falling short against the nerds I’m afraid it might get pretty ugly. I’ll go with 83-68 Elon. Hope I’m wrong, would be nice to see Lou and co. get one more W.

This can't be the same JMU team that has sort of shown of the rest of the year. And Rowe needs to make a statement to that effect by changing the starting lineup. Start Wooden and Christmas at the 5 and 4 spots. They showed in the last game they will hustle and can play well together.

Elon is outmanned, but they have still beat the Dukes twice this year. What doesn’t make sense is they are a crappy rebounding team, but have outrebounded JMU both games. This is a matchup where Dwight Wilson should score at will and grab a dozen boards, but be completely lost on the defensive end as Elon plays perimeter basketball. Maybe Rowe can go offense/defense substitutions on every single whistle during the game.

Elon makes the 7th most 3pt shots/game in the nation and that is the only thing they do well. Of course, JMU does nothing well so maybe it should be advantage Elon. While Elon shoots the 3 well, they are 9th in overall FG% in the CAA with JMU being 10th. Get ready for brick city.

Hopefully they run the Phoenix off the 3pt line and make them try to win with awkward open 12ft jump shots. I’d also like the Dukes to play extra physical to match up with tournament officiating style. Step 1 - have the team manager slap Julien Wooden before he enters the game. Someone needs to convince him he can play bigger and stronger in the CAA with his frame if he just had a little attitude. There is no way Elon should outrebound the Dukes for a third time unless they have just completely quit on Rowe.

In addition to shaking up the starting lineup, I'd like to see JMU come out in a 3-2 defense to try to disrupt the 3 point game of Elon. This is game is winnable. If Rowe comes out with some surprise changes, JMU gets early momentum and hangs on for a win 74-70. If we see same old bad man to man defense giving up wide open 3 pointers and easy drives to the basket and offensively have guys standing around at the 3 point line chucking up contested shots it will be a 16 point loss.

Seeing all the March Madness commercials. I use to get so excited this time of year (Campenelli days). So depressing now...

Ditto those sentiments dukes5. The Campanelli days were a good ride, and leaves us that were around in those days longing (for a long dam* time). As bad is this sounds, I really prefer we lose today and just put this season in the dumpster so we can move on and start the process of the new coach search.

Look at it this way- win or lose today there is going to be excitement around JMU MBB after today. Either you are gearing up for an upset of W&M tomorrow or you are anxiously awaiting news about our head coaching candidates. We win either way IMO. Better days lie ahead- The sleeping giant will awaken! Go Dukes!

I don't rule out anyone winning the tournament if the officials call a fair game too many close games this year to pick a winner

What’s been up with Wilson of late. Fatigue? We need productivity from him inside- hopefully the week off and reset serves our guys well (Banks and Wilson in particular). We need energy and aggression!

Roll call - will I be the only one in attendance tonight to watch possibly Rowe’s last game as HC of JMU basketball? BTW, tix are less than $10. CAA should make tonight free of charge just to get people into the building.

The last two regular season games tell me this team has checked out and ready for the offseason to begin.

Dukes lose by double digits.

Both teams come in at 8-20 with JMu’s official NCAA NET ranking at 282 and Elon’s at 256. This should be riveting postseason basketball and one thing we are sure of... it cannot end in a tie. The Dukes don’t need their best game to win today. Just find a way to survive and advance with a more talented team than Elon has.
