Steve Hawkins was let go from WMU today.
Great, loyal Bronco. But it was time.

He had a good run early on in his tenure, but it became pretty evident over the past few years that he wasn't able to adapt to the changing landscape of college basketball.

Majerle out at Grand Canyon. Does CMU can Keno and make a move? Maybe not in this financial climate.

They just gave Keno a contract extension in September. I can't see them turning around and firing him 6 months later. Next, Majerle would seem like a pretty underwhelming hire. Outside of NMSU the WAC is complete and utter garbage. Keno would be doing just as well, if not better, than Majerle if he was playing teams like Chicago St, Cal State Bakersfield, Utah Valley, UMKC, etc.

Yeah, ultimately Dan had one team to beat and couldn’t get past them. But he is an NBA name, Chip grad, and so forth. I doubt CMU could justify the financials. Just idle chatter on an idle day as we spin into the unknown...

He has no desire to come back. Strong businesses and ties lut west. CMU cannot afford buyout anyways. We remain stuck for probably 2 more years in the basement of the MAC hoops

If EMU wasn’t bankrupt, Murphy would have been fired years ago.

I didn't see this posted yet so WMU has promoted Clayton Bates to be their next head coach. His total compensation will be $220k, which will make him the lowest paid coach in the MAC. The next lowest is James Whitford, who makes $316k.

he's also on a 2 year contract. the AD there basically said they couldn't do a proper search now and are giving him a trial run.

RE: Coaching Hot Seat
What a trial it'll be! How is Bates supposed to prove himself in two years? The first year is already a train wreck with the transfers of their best players. Recruiting with the coronavirus crisis will be even harder. And no good players will want to come in for a lame-duck fill-in coach with no job security, so it'll be doubly hard to put quality on that roster.
