He has JMU as a 12 seed vs 5 seed Missouri State in Chicago, with the winner likely to face 4 seed DePaul in Chicago.(A team the Dukes faced in the NCAA's in a fairly recent season). To be sure, the upcoming game with Drexel is huge.

Yeah - that certainly makes the upcoming game on of the biggest in the season.

We need to finally get over the NCAA Tournament hump under Sean.

Even if you lose 1 more time to us (either Friday or ideally in the CAAT final), I really like your chances. You have enough high wins and have avoided the bad loss. Towson is literally your only loss outside of the top 100. That is as strong of a case as you can realistically make as a mid major. I took ESPN's list this morning and picked a bunch of teams to compare. It is posted on our board, but I still think JMU is in good sitting to grab an at large if needed. I think Drexel needs help as teams that we lost to in tight games have fallen outside the top 100 so our losses are "worse".

They have Maryland as a #1 seed. If only the Dukes had used more clock in the 2nd half vs the Lady Terps.

Or had competent ball handlers...

Had you guys held on you would be a lock versus a strong bubble team. I think that is clear.

They were in complete control with one quarter left and completely crumbled. I was on a business trip and remember sitting in my hotel room in disbelief watching the end of that game. Maryland was, I think, #8 at that point...would have been HUGE. Hopefully the committee would take into account the fact that we were that close to beating a #1 seed...they won't...but it would be nice.

If we lose to Drexel on Friday and then again in the CAAT Championship, I'm not sure I like our chances. Granted, that would make them a tournament team, but getting swept (in 3 games) by a team that probably wouldn't have been an at-large selection isn't a good look. Right now we're #41 according to Massey, but a couple more losses would likely drop us out of the top 50 and potentially top 60. IMO losing another game in the regular season and not winning the CAAT would make it tough to grab an at-large.

The Maryland loss was almost as bad as the Men's UNC loss.

I'm not even sure if we beat Drexel Friday and loss in the CAAT Champ game we make it. If lose two more games before the selection show, I think we are NIT bound, unless obviously both losses are regular season......

I would agree with that. I posted resumes on our board but 1 loss as long as it is to Drexel I think youre fine. To anyone else or more than 1 you are not fine. JMU clearly has a safer resume for an at large than does Drexel, that is clear. Losing to us is not hurting you though, it it just not getting you the much needed quality win that mids desire and need. If Drexel wins out to the finals, it would be tough to leave them out as Drexel's RPI would likely be in the high 30's with 3 top 100 wins and 2 top 50 wins (both over you). An RPI in the 30's with a SOS just outside the top 100 would be hard to exclude even, for a mid. What is hurting Drexel is a couple close loses to teams that are now in the 100-150 range. They are not damaging losses, but are missed opportunities. JMU avoided those losses which is what is keeping you afloat, despite the middling SOS. If JMU wins Friday and makes the finals against Drexel, I have a hard time seeing JMU left out (when comparing them to other questionable teams) regardless of the result. Drexel would definitely be a close call (and close calls tend to go against mid majors)

JMU's best argument is the fact is you avoided bad losses. You have 1 loss outside the top 100 (Towson). Even with few top 50 wins, that is a strong case and a case few teams anywhere can make. That is why to me you are safer than you guys are letting yourselves to believe.
