As much as you would like it....you can't have things both ways.
Things were either taught in African-American studies or they weren't.

In the same sense that Jim Harrick "taught" UGAg players how many points a 3-pointer was worth for 4 credit hours.

Neither carries the phonetic grace nor the universal recognition nor the supporting background nor the implied belittlement of UNC-CHeat.

The sad truth is that most of the students that initially took the African-American Studies classes were not qualified to have been admitted to UNC, and would have flunked out had it not been for Julius E. Nyang’oro's scheme to pad their grades.
The radical Nyang'oro who had long been critical of North Carolina's education of "some students" in high school, decided on his own to "help" those "students" that were admitted to UNC because of a Federal Government mandated program.

It goes to show how far the Tournament has fallen vis a vie the NCAA. It's made the regular season meaningless.

Is the regular season meaningless for ALL teams, or is it just teams with bad records?

Really the regular season is meaningless if you're one of the top 35 teams. I don't consider playing a whole season for improved seeding to be meaningful. For the bubble teams the whole season is meaningful as 1 cold streak will end your NCAA tourney hopes.

It's fitting that the only conference game televised for many of the 1 bid leagues is the championship game of their conference tournaments. It's the only meaningful game all year in those conferences.

You don’t think there’s a difference between a 1 seed and a 9 seed? Maybe that’s why your team has no realistic chance to make the big dance.

My belief that the regular season is meaningless for the top 35 teams has no bearing on the teams ability to make the playoffs.

If you get a 9 seed, is your season a failure? No. Of course not. You can still win the NCAA tournament. If you get a 1 seed, has your team succeeded in meeting all it's goals? No. Of course not. How you do in the NCAA tournament is all that matters.

The regular season is not that meaningful for the top 35 teams.

I have to disagree. Seeding is directly related to the opponents you face in the tournament and your chances of advancing, and ultimately winning a championship. Only one 9 seed has even made a Final 4 before, and a 9 seed has never won the tournament.

Championships by Seed Since 1985 (expanded to 64):
1 seed: 22
2: 5
3: 4
4: 1
5: 0
6: 1
7: 1
8: 1

What if it turned out that all college championships are a sham and the #1 factor in both football and basketball is simply strength of schedule (or of tournament path)?

Unless this counts as firing "with cause" then he stays.
