Saturday's Referees
Email sent to the league office. If anyone else feels the same responsibility to voice their opinion:

Commissioner D'Antonio and Associate Commissioner Murphy:

The officiating at the Delaware vs. William and Mary men's basketball game on Saturday was an embarrassment to the league. I recognize what a challenge it is to staff Saturday games with quality officiating, but referees Anthony Burris and J. W. Lucas should be removed immediately from league work going forward.

Games must be about the players and teams, not about those calling the game. It is a major disservice and failure to your CAA membership to not assure game officiating meets a standard worthy of this level of basketball.

Email sent saying

Gentlemen:

The officiating at the Delaware vs. William and Mary men's basketball game on Saturday was an embarrassment to the league. I recognize what a challenge it is to staff Saturday games with quality officiating, but this was beyond BAD. When the home team wins a tight game and the crowd leaves the game discussing the referees and not a hard fought victory you know there is a problem! Both teams were negatively impacted by horrible calls on loss balls, unnecessary technical fouls, and inexperience. The only good statement is that they were consistently BAD and equally impacted both teams.

Games must be about the players and teams, not about those calling the game. It is a major disservice and failure to your CAA membership to not assure game officiating meets a standard worthy of this level of basketball.

Watching the replay this morning. Nate’s second foul (the loose ball scramble under Delaware’s basket) is one of the worst calls you’ll ever see. I did some officiating when I was younger, and the rules may have changed since then, but any call that drives the usually stoic Dane Fisher to call “bullsh*t” on the ref is probably a bad call.

Agree, with this, and the officiating was pretty bad, but they were also pretty lenient in not giving him a technical when he went after Mutts a bit later.
