Not sure I've ever seen a worse coached team; and the players are clearly very frustrated, as evidenced by their body language. Team scored 24 points in each half! If Wooden started, and he has been of late, he combined with Banks to go 0 for 15 from the field.

Their offense consisted of running a weave on the perimeter, which grade schoolers know how to do, but does not really create much opportunity (kind of like rearranging chairs on the Titanic). They also ran a few poorly conceived high screens and rolls with Wilson rolling to the basket after setting a high screen. And yes, a play they run every game on the left wing, ending with Banks shooting a three that he misses. They also were able to get a few run outs. And, lastly, the usual assortment of Matt Lewis threes from 5 or 6 feet behind the three point line (although he generally shot well for a change, but mainly in the first half). There's no structure or flow to the offense with players knowing exactly where to be and what to do on each offensive set. Rather than looking like a team, it's merely a collection of 5 individuals doing their own thing on the court. And the sideline reporter overheard Rowe telling the team "to trust the process" after Lewis heaved up a deep three.

A very sad display, but that's what I saw. Next coach has to be deeply knowledgeable of how to install effective offensive and defensive sets and how to make adjustments to those sets and to be able to play different ways when things don't work. He should also have core philosophies that drive his approach to recruiting and how his teams play. One of the interesting things I read about basketball in recent times was a quote from Tony Bennett. To paraphrase him, he basically said what makes college basketball so interesting is that there are multiple ways to play, all of which can be successful, unlike in the NBA where everyone plays the same style basically. Rowe's style, unfortunately, is not workable.

"We are not a well-coached team on either side of the ball"

Duke 84 - nothing has changed, how could reasonable people not see this disaster coming and take action earlier to mitigate the brand and financial destruction
