I opened this morning's Daily Press and saw them sink to a new, really shocking low.

There was no local coverage of last night's game with Drexel..it was relegated to the back sports pages with a tiny Associated Press couple of paragraphs. I cannot recall a Tribe men's home game not being covered in our local newspaper.

They did find space, however, for feature first sports page coverage of the ODU women's game with Rice and a high school game.

And there was no mention of the Drexel game in yesterday's paper but
there was feature stories promoting both the ODU mens road game and womens home game on the lead sports game.

Ever since the Virginian-Pilot took over the Daily Press and began letting feature sports writers go we have seen the Daily Press become more and more Norfolk area slanted with big coverage of ODU and increased coverage of UVA and Va Tech.

I intend to contact the DP about this and others on these boards should do so.

It is certainly short sighted to omit W&M coverage from the local paper. That said, printed news is a dying breed and most get their news online or direct. I happen to know where there is a great write up by Mr Johnson.

There is a big article with picture in the Daily Press this morning.

It's the second story listed on the VP and DP websites this morning - same story on both. No byline, so not sure who actually wrote it, but it's quite a bit more than you usually get with the wire reports.

Usually you have to scroll down quite a bit to get to Tribe news. This is actually a big improvement.

Could be bubba got the early edition, the one printed on the first run. That edition can go ridiculously early and miss all the "after dinner" news. Usually, that edition goes to convenience stores, etc., and not home delivery.
