That's not bad... my ideal conference would have a quadrant of UC, Louisville, Pitt and West Virginia. That Ohio River contingent is an underrated hotbed and was a strong force in the 2005-2012 Big East both on the field and with TV ratings. Rutgers, Syracuse, UConn certainly makes sense as well.

It is funny that you mention West Virginia as I was going back and forth on them. I was going to either add them and one other to get to 14, add West Virginia instead of Rutgers when making my original list of 12 schools, or cutting Rutgers to get to 11 to allow a double round robin in basketball.

In the end, I figured that the conference was so northeastern based and Rutgers has improved so much in basketball that it would seem incomplete without them, so I figured that they needed to be on my list.

I also originally toyed with adding Duke and UNC (it is a dream basketball based list after all) and UMass (since they are a local rival). I just figured I would keep the geography tighter and focus more on past/present Big East schools, so that eliminated Duke and UNC as great as they are. UMass just missed because they haven’t been very strong in awhile. However, make no mistake about it... I would add UMass over BC to my hypothetical newfangled Big East conference any day even though BC was original Big East. BC has been ACC so long that they would be an odd fit now (and, unlike Duke and UNC, BC doesn’t strengthen basketball).

One good season doesn't mean Rutgers is back. Besides, they're 9-9 in the Big Ten, an underdog in their last two games and no lock to make the NCAA Tournament this year. Why not add Xavier or Dayton as a rival to Cincinnati or just keep it 11?

I will like to thank you for including Temple though.

I know I said no rules but you're a Buckeye fan and you don't want the school up north in your conference?

I broke the rules a bit too. Maybe this is more of an interesting conference to me, rather than a "dream conference ".

We're making the tournament this year. A very down ACC pretty much guarantees that. Lots of their at large bids are going to go somewhere and we have enough quality wins to get a bid comfortably.

May be different than others but I do not want my school, Jacksonville State, caught up in the rat race known as the SEC. So here is my list:
Jacksonville State
UAB
Georgia State
Kennesaw
Chattanooga
Middle Tenn
Memphis
South Alabama
Ga Southern
Southern Miss
Tulane
Western Carolina

WCU because of their band and JSU's band only competition is WCU, JMU and North TX. WCU is by far the closest.

I realize your view is from a hoops perspective, but you would need WVU in that configuration to give the conference a little credibility in football and for the size of their fan base.

Best scenario for App State:

AAC FB only. Keep a yearly H:H with Georgia Southern and alternate every two years a H:H with Marshall and H:H with CCU

Olympics sports rejoins the SoCon (go with Belmont as a pair to keep the Private/Public mix)

Best scenario for ODU is AAC loses members and ODU gets in, or A10 magically adds ODU as basketball only and ODU does FBS Indy.
